More recently Mourinho won the League Cup and the Europa League with United and was sacked at the end of the following seasonI know this is the banter thread but I’ll give an honest answer anyway.
To me it’s a confidence and hunger building when it comes to the bigger teams. Nice to win something early in the season, to spur you on.
If it is a season you had big expectations and come out only with a league cup, then it is a disappointment.
Jose, in his first stint with Chelsea started with a league cup.
SAF’s last dominating period also started with a league cup after a few barren years.
So it is not in itself a big success, but recognised silverware nonetheless.
