Removing Eskom from property COMPLETELY

. I don't want to buy sunsynk again. Might rather do a luxpower install this time around with solar mounted on a structure.

If you don't have a grid you can install one of the cheaper off grid systems. No point in getting a sunsynk or the hybrid version of luxpower.

Goodluck.

However, if you stop paying they might disconnect you.

You can't compare it to a cellphone contract etc. As in this case you have no contract and you have informed them to remove it, which they didn't.

They will keep adding the home user charge with interest onto the property bill and will legally have to settle this amount if the property is sold in the future.

Some places they want a ridiculous amount for the meter install but thats a possible option.
Say worst case R10k for the meter, that's 1 year of network charges, roughly - makes sense long-term

He said he's rural. Pretty sure his Eskom bill is as separate from municipal rates as a Telkom bill would be. (Remember those?)
