So in reality you really wouldn't even have to do any diving....just tow whatever into it would have been another possible option.

It is. And I explained how welds are tested and there is always a very small probability of a defect getting through. Apparently, the clean break is where operations were halted due to weather and then resumed. That would expose the metal of the pipe already on the seabed to corrosive elements.

Nothing is 100% certain these days. To date, we only rely on snippets of information released by the Swedish Prosecuting Authority, including the above.

But of course, the Swedes could easily provide more info should they so desire.

I don't know about clutching of straws but in science we tend to be very detailed. At best for now we can say we don't know. But given Russia has been a scumbag run country for 200 years it is possible and even likely they blew up their own pipeline. America would not have to.

Russia is the only scumbag invader on that list. But you should know that given you're from Eastern Europe originally. For example you don't see Poland threatening Belarus because Poles in Belarus are persecuted. People behave in a civil way. Only Russia behaves like the old Mongol Empire.
