Volvo and Tracker say De Ruyter's "spying device" could be one of theirs

"Could be" combined with hard evidence, though...

Volvo and Tracker obviously didn't want to stick their necks out and gave us the best response they could without causing themselves needless drama.

Extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence, and the evidence was anything but.

Doubtful. That would have been the easiest thing to deny and they didn't. Probably because of who "leaked" the images in the first place to the Times and News24.

That's probably the most generous explanation.

Don't get me wrong — De Ruyter should be applauded for standing up to the corruption inside Eskom. But stuff like this hangs a cloud over his testimony.
100%. He can amplify his testimony by coming clean on this one. Goes to the integrity of the witness, Your Worship.

He could clear it up with the Fivas report which hasn't been forthcoming.
Fivas could state that the device was inspected by Mr X who is a world acclaimed spy gadget expert and he says it's abilities are Y.

But dololo.
It's funny because a preliminary report was sent to other media houses, which is where the initial coverage was from.

But when we asked for it, suddenly it's privileged information.

The explanation of the coffee saga in the interview is definitely more plausible than that of his explanation of the "bug".

The coffee story is a classic case of rat poisoning. Why was it called cyanide poisoning?
Maybe the interview with those two dik sarges might have gone better if he said I think someone gooied rat poison in my coffee.

The sodium xyz was used to mask the cyanide as per his doctor
His knowledge and specifics of what happened is probably why the detectives were so weary
The detective who according to Andre was below his rank for his age

This article was published and never refuted after a right of reply after 5 months.
He doesn't want to admit a mistake as it will bruise his ego.
He is still referring to the forensic report he had done on the device in his latest interview. Why not A) share the report with media; B) share the device with Tracker directly and ask them? He’s going about this in exactly the wrong way, and when you’re wanting people to trust you … well … you gotta be squeaky clean.

Lets moan about a tracker meanwhile:

He does not want to share the sophisticated device forensic report, he does not want to share the names of the Ministers he says are implicated in corruption because he knows his worshippers would believe him anyway.

The whole cloak and dagger thing is working out well for him.

Its relevant because in the interview Annika Larson asked the question and he explained about the famous "bug". He said it was a listening and tracking device and this was verified by an expert who specializes in the field. He then mentioned that the nature of the "bug" was confirmed by the Inspector-General of Intelligence.
Now if I was an investigative journalist I would request the details of that meeting and the circumstances around it. This is the designated entity in charge of oversight of the various security services, that confirmed an abuse of security services, and what did they do about it? They are required to respond. Why because its a executive check and balance and ADR said on camera that he spoke to them.

The Rapport is stating that he gave the names to Jamnadas.

Watch the interview and you'll see what he said about the "bug".

Yeah, I would start with the okes washing their hands with 15 year old whiskey.

And various media houses reported that his sophisticated device was in fact a Volvo fitted transmitter, which of course he would later refute, so now Rapport are saying it's Jamnadas, which he could also later refute because he never said it with his own mouth.

De Ruyter must stop playing games.
