Microsoft launches Game Pass Family plan in South Africa

Not for me and my Wife.

We share an Xbox and local sharing works perfectly fine if set as Home console.
She even has access on Xbox when I play on my PC.
I see …

For me it will be for two PC’s … and if it’s worth having for the games I’d say

Depends if the conversion trick still works.

If it does then:
(R595 / 12) x 2 = R99 Per month for 2 Ultimate subs
vs R200 per month for one sub for 2 people.

Yeah that local sharing is how it should work on PC. Basically the xbox is the one device and multiple gamers can use it with their own tags.

Problem is how to set a PC as "Home console" vs Guest ;)

I can see how its a problem on PC vs Console.

So you saying that getting the family thing for 200 bucks is worth it than going individually

How will they actually enforce this cross border? It says you need to reside in the same country.

About time but it doesn't quite solve the shared device problem though.

For example, my kids game on my gaming machine as well but only my profile has xbox pass, theirs doesnt. They all have their own accounts for private workspaces etc and we often lan minecraft ( non pass ).

So how does it not fix that?

They will now all have Game Pass.

But this already works like this anyway without the sharing. Every user on the same device can access Game Pass on the same device.

The new plan means they can each have their own device.

No.

One PC ( gaming machine ) , I have a xbox pass subscription but when my kids log into their profiles with their xbox game tags, they do not have access to gamepass. So there is no way to share the gamepass with the other two on the same machine UNLESS I login to gamepass on their windows profile but it will log them out of their microsoft profile on the machine.

ie: MS account A + gamepass

MS Account B, C and D dont have gamepass. All MS Accounts can use same machine.

You log your account into the Microsoft Store. They log into the Xbox app with their own account.

But this Family Plan solves all that. Each account will have Game Pass on their own account on whatever device the log into.

is it Live already?
If I add a family member, then it 'pools' the games individuals own, so we all have access to the pool right?
Or is it only the main member/subscriber who shares their stuff to everybody else.

This has nothing to do with games you own.

This is purely about Game Pass.

They have there own store accounts. Yes it will solve it but it shouldn't be needed for a single device.

Yeah it is rather messy on Windows.

But this new plan will address that and the nice thing is on any other device from anywhere else too so if they get an Xbox or laptop etc.
