Solar installers and suppliers

Very decent

Have you seen installation pics and references?

I have. I also know the installer personally and the quality they deliver. Should I be pushing for sunsynk batteries to extend warranty to 10 years or freedom won just as good with 5 years warranty?

Both are fine. You should get a decent warranty with FW also.

Pairing the Sunsynk batteries with the inverter is to extend the inverter's warranty to 10 years, not the battery.

Maybe add a couple more panels to take your PV to over 6 kWp. Then you should get around 5 kW in winter...

That is a very big deposit to pay. Is that the norm these days?

Why not just get 1 x 10kW?

But echo’s above I would also consider the Sunsynk batteries for the combined 10 year warranty.

Honestly I don't know. They are coming through again on Friday for site inspection. Will add this to my list of questions.

I am sure you get people who say order for me, then cancel if they find anything else quicker. But lately, if you don't take it, someone else is on the waiting list. Maybe he need the money to buy it. Hopefully we will not watch you on cart blance.

That is about 80% upfront. Don't know if I trust anyone that much.
That is a moerse leap of faith, but 80% deposit is unfortunately the norm in these times. Just emphasizes the importance of doing proper homework before selecting an installer.

It may be with the forethought of room to upgrade but honestly going from 10 to 15 is a waste of time so just start with a 10 now.

And get a quote for going with a Sunsynk battery and the 10-year warranty on both battery and inverter.

This would be the quote to add sunsynk batteries.

I could choose between 2x or 1x.

No brainer then, go with the Sunsynk batteries to get the extended warranty on the inverter. Go with 2 x 5 kWh. Will make upgrading cheaper while also making your system more modular.

Also add 2 more panels...

Looks good, contains all the necessary elements.

Only reservation is the panel wattage, 460W a bit low. Without knowing all the specs, especially size, you might want to consider higher wattage panels to maximise roof space

PS: I ended up paying an extra R8k due to very long cable runs, which were only determined during installation

With regards to cable length, is it quite a distance between DB and solar?
