ANC collapsing in KZN. A beautiful sight. Come on IFP! EFF also doing really badly. The two worst parties in SA not doing well!

I know its not representative of the country but it give me some hope, both ANC & EFF loosing votes. If the IFP can get KZN and the DA get just a few more votes elsewhere than its game over for the ANC in 2024.

An IEC candidate letter from Makwarela, seen by News24, shows he had indicated that he had been sequestrated. But no clearance certificate or explanation was included in this application form.

The court order on the sequestration, dated 26 August 2016, does not include a certificate confirming Makwarela's rehabilitation.

Both Bloem and Cope Gauteng interim leader Mxolisi Ntombela blamed Cope's former provincial leadership for not vetting Makwarela.

"The whole process of identifying candidates and knowing the candidates' background is the provincial leadership's responsibility.
We are extremely concerned about this matter, and we leave no stone unturned before we know the truth," Bloem said in a statement on Wednesday.
As I suspected it's COPE GP.

The IFP are doing well, but don't see them overturning the ANC's majority in 2024 in KZN. The ANC will likely fall below 50% but with their new found buddies in the EFF, they would have enough to form a government. The IFP are only at 16% as of last election and I don't see that doubling.

Like I said, the IFP is blikseming the ANC in KZN.

I just wonder what share of the vote they get next year in KZN...? Minimum 25%?

ANC should even be more worried than they are now - previously, IFP was only a threat to the ANC in northern KZN, but now they are making inroads in southern KZN as well (which is the heavily ANC region of KZN).

Disagree. If you look at all the by-elections since 2021 LGE in KZN, there have been massive swings away from ANC (and even EFF) towards the IFP.

The IFP has been taking vote share from them like it's nothing. And it's not like it was a once-off by-election or something.

This has been a consistent trend for almost one and a half years of by-elections in the run-up to a national election. So things are looking good for IFP in KZN. And of course, if they do well there, then it could only have positive effects on a national scale.

I disagree again.

Election results:
2016: 18.3%
2019: 16%
2021: 24.2%

If you take a gander at their score from 2021 and you look at the absolute hammering they gave ANC and EFF since then in KZN, it's not impossible to see them at 22 - 25% (more even) next year.
