As a 13700K+RTX4090 PC owner, there is something very satisfying about playing A Plague Tale Requiem at 1440p over150FPS with DLSS 3.0 and raytracing while consoles only do 1440p/30 without raytracing.

That said, I still love my PS5 and Series X too. They're really good consoles, looking forward to their "pro" successors so they get closer to 4K/60 again.

anything with a keyboard and mouse is better than console :giggle:
The master race days of consoles being s**t are no more.

Games look and perform great on Series X and PS5, a mid-range graphics card costs as much as one of those consoles by itself and the issues with game prices are no more thanks to frequent digital sales.

I bought a Series X to hold me down while I wait for the GeForce 40 Series. Then I bought a PS5 to play Sony exclusives. Now I've lost all interest in getting a gaming PC because it would add next to nothing to my life.

Also, PSVR2 is easily the best VR headset on the market. I'm covered even in that regard.

I call bullshit on this whole article and the handful of people that voted.

I play games and I know a **** ton of people that play games (console mostly). And out of all of them I am the only person with a PS5 and Xbox. All of them have a PS5/PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

This whole article is poorly written and full of ****. This whole article seems like a stealth shill advertising for Game Pass.

yho rich.

Love my Switch, esp. when Eskom decides to shed the load. Software situation is great too. Pity Spotify and Netflix can't/don't want to release their apps on it.

Dunno what all the secrecy with the hardware and software sales in ZA is. We all know we're not even a blip on the big picture of other markets. It will be interesting to see how consoles fair against PC and especially Cell phones (cell phones takes a dump on all from a lofty height). The gaming landscape in Africa... I wonder what other info these companies are hiding?

And all the people I know have an Xbox or Series X, so yeah can't really say that because your circle doesn't have any.

Shouldn't you be in the Hisense thread? Did you get lost?

Article seems about right from my point of view.

None of the people I know outside of MyBB have a PS5, they all have an X or S.

Those who had PS4's kept them and added an XBox.

Most are now waiting for the PS5 facelift edition and hoping that Sony has solved the initial stock availability issue by then.

MS doesn't need the mighty MyBB to push sales for GP across the world. GP sells itself...

I have no money now to actually vote with my wallet - but if I did I’d probably go PlayStation…

I got the PS4 over Xbox for the exclusives. I really enjoyed Uncharted series and The Last of Us.

I’ve heard Uncharted is gone for good :( But I’d be worried they launch another The Last of Us and I’m stuck on Xbox.

Stock availability is all but at an end

PS5 sales are up 450%, leaving the Nintendo Switch in the dust

The PS5 finally grabbed the top spot for sales in Japan in February, even beating out the reigning champion Nintendo Switch.

The PS5 has sold 366,982 units, as reported by Famitsu (opens in new tab), meaning that sales are up 457% year-on-year, as Sony only managed to sell 65,772 units back in February 2022. Twitter user Genki_JPN (opens in new tab) also pointed out that the PS5 sold more units in February than in the first quarter of 2022 combined.

This big news signifies that the PS5 has beaten out Xbox and, more impressively, the Nintendo Switch as best selling console in Japan. The Switch came in second with 221,041 units sold, so it wasn’t really a close fight.

The week ending February 19th also saw Sony climb the ranks of the best-selling software titles, as reported by Push Square (opens in new tab). Hogwarts Legacy and Wild Hearts topped the list selling 36,958 and 26,905 units respectively. However, this is to be somewhat expected when considering the increased number of PS5 units sold and how new both games are.

PS5 sales surge over 300% in the UK during February | UK Monthly Charts

At a glance

  • The UK software market grows due to Hogwarts Legacy, with launch sales 100% bigger than last year's hit Elden Ring
  • PS5 sales surge, Xbox sales improve, but Switch continues to struggle
  • DualSense Edge is the fourth biggest 'premium' controller launch of all time

The UK games market posted strong sales in February due to the performance of two products: Hogwarts Legacy and PlayStation 5.

2.8 million console and PC games were sold across the UK during February, up 11% over the year before. This data is for all physical games, plus AAA titles from most major publishers (courtesy of GSD).

Hogwarts Legacy was by far and away the biggest game of the month. Its launch week was 100% bigger than last February's hit video game, Elden Ring. In fact, the game is already on the brink of over-taking Elden Ring in all-time sales after just three weeks. It is currently the sixth best-selling video game from the last 12 months.

Hogwarts Legacy makes up for a month that was a little lighter on new games compared with last year. February 2022 also saw the release of Horizon: Forbidden West, Dying Light 2 and Total War: Warhammer 3. This month, the highest charting new releases outside of Hogwarts is Undisputed, the boxing game from Plaion, which debuts at No.13. Elsewhere, Atomic Heart charted at No.17, although the game was a Day One title in Game Pass, which may explain why 85% of its sales were on PS5 and PC.
