Eskom's load-shedding turnaround plan is failing

On 22 January 2023, Eskom chair Mpho Makwana said they had embarked on a turnaround journey to improve plant performance and reduce load-shedding. This turnaround plan is failing.

When the new Eskom board was appointed, Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan gave it the mandate to increase the energy availability factor (EAF) to 75%.

Eskom failed to do a thing? What an uncharacteristic and surprising turn of events.

"Makwana said that in their first 112 days, the Eskom board had more than 50 feeding-at-the-KFC sessions, of their various committees."

Pity Pravin Gordan messed up the nuclear option, but that's in hindsight.

Another article written purely based on the assumption that there is a plan to begin with, because the ANC said there's one.
But they got rid of De Ruyter!?! We supposed to have ample electricity now.

And if the EAF declines too low, they will just pick it up again, same as the Rand.
