Markram was rested fir the first 2 games and Mulder got injured in the test. That leaves virtually no batsmen available who bowls at all who you would consider for the proteas at this stage.

Not sure. But I would've played Parnell instead of Shamsi. Both the same age, but Parnell is a better batsman and bowler in my opinion.

Tbf, WI do have a good game once in a while and are capable of beating any team when someone like Hope or Pooran have a good innings.

I would give them the benefit of the doubt for losing a game every now and then to WI but it is a problem if they lose a series to them.

Doesn't solve the issue of a sixth bowler. Also with a wc coming in India you need to get shamsi confident as you are definitely playing 2 spinners.
