As insane as it sounds, apparently it can be. Retroactive laws and prosecutions are a thing in many countries.Afaik, laws are not retro active. So if you contravene a new law years in the past, you cannot be punished legally. In SAGuys example, you can't. In the example of a ceo being lambasted later, that is public opinion/perception, like the trudeo and similar. Society may dislike it but unless it broke some other law or a law in effect AT THE TIME of the incident, there is no criminality. Civil, differant story, folks can argue emotional trauma etc and roll the dice on that.
