Hopefully it doesn't cause issues on yours like it did on mine that was working flawlessly before the update arrived on it in December last year and eventually ended up with it becoming bricked! My newer one only now has the update available and the one that replaced the bricked one, but not going to risk it, nope!!

No issues here - these two just gets used for Kodi, Streamax and Netflix - and all is well.

If they do s...t themselfs I have some Xioami boxes and sticks I can use.

I think your unit just had bad flash memory.

Mine was fine for a good couple of weeks, but I started notice issues as time went on. Some apps were all of a sudden very laggy, and then I had endless WiFi issues, which is eventually when things snowballed as I was trying to get it back online, restarting router and CPE numerous times, and of course the media player too. Had no issues with other WiFi devices, was just the media player that was battling to find and hold WiFi connection, with the router a few metres away and in decent line of sight. Was most likely just unlucky, but not willing to risk doing the upgrades that don't really gain you anything to begin with...

Mmmmm, yeah that sounds like a multitude of issues to me. First and foremost, I would have ruled out WiFi. These devices are great in that they have a LAN port built in, something you need to solve with a USB dongle on the Xiaomi Mi Box. That said, if it can be wired in - never use WiFi.

I'll keep an eye on my two, but I doubt there will be issues. Never used their WiFi since I got them.

Easier said then done, WiFi is just more convenient.

It almost never is.

Sure, it is easy initially because you just connect to it. Then you start paying the price as connectivity suffers whenever you just want to have a relaxing time sitting down watching something.

Correct, all started not long after I let it do this update - I do think I was mostly unlucky, but I don't trust the update for now.

I have been using that media player since early 2020 with no issues, and the only time there was a WiFi issue here and there was when the actual router just needed a restart, and it was affecting all wireless devices connected to it, not just the media player. Sure, having a proper wired ethernet connection is always the best option, but it's seldom practical.

Do you have a mesh system? My WiFi experience would satisfy you I reckon.

I have considered getting a mesh system now that I recently upgraded from AC to AX. I currently have a TP-Link Archer AX53 as my main router.

My issue with WiFi is we live in a very dense estate and my house is the middle one of a triplex. Even 5GHz is getting crowded over here so I try to limit WiFi to the phones and tablet.

Did the most recent update a few days ago.
Things seem very "laggy" now. Netflix very slow and pixellated.
Anyone else had this?
Temporary?
Solutions?

Do Not Update! The box is old and was made to run Android 9 pretty well.

Both mine are still happy after I did the update last weekend.

Are you connected via WiFi?

The box was tested extensively on Android 10 before getting the approval to push to push to devices.

Have you tried a factory restart ?
