Apple TV 4K (2021 vs 2022)

Please tell us more?
I’m not sure what more you want to know?

A wired connection is more stable, secure, faster & reliable . If there is wired available, most will choose that over WiFi.

Okay but what issues have you experienced using WiFi for steaming (incl 4K) on a TV or TV box?

Well none because I don’t use WiFi …

What exactly do you agree & disagree with ? If something is something works, there is no need for something better ?

And when did you need any of that to make a streaming box work better?

The minimal requirement are more than met by WiFi. There is no need for Ethernet to be specially brought into the mix unless it was already there.

And in many cases in many households WiFi is actually faster these days, but it’s irrelevant as you never actually needed more than 100Mbit to start with.

I’m not really understanding?

In my case I’ve got it hardwired as that’s the global preferred way . But I should unplug and rather use WiFi because it’s ‘good enough’?

And we could really have stuck with WiFi N because it’s ‘good enough’? And therefore if you have the option to use Ethernet - you shouldn’t ?

Sometimes I think you’re just disagreeing with everything for the hell of it

Good for you. Not going to muck about hardwiring like it’s the year 2000.

For sure. And lucky for us, most businesses and system admin also prefer wired. Can you imagine Investec running on WiFI only because they didn’t want to run wires?

I’m not here to convince you of the preferred choice at all. Most people know what it is - or can Google.

You’re more than welcome to believe and use what you want :) I obviously just think it’s pretty poor advice to tell people to rather use WiFi over the 1gb Ethernet port .

Well my question was more if there might be problems with wifi. Me and most people probably know the benefits of ethernet and i also think most people don't want to run cables through the house everywhere. Is that not the whole point of wifi? Plug and play. Me and my son played online shooter games during Covid, so we ran 2 ethernet cables to opposite sides of the house to our pc's to make sure everything is optimum. But I prefer not to run cables for everything, just if it's necessary, that was more the question. Will there ever potentially be a need for a ethernet port vs A15 over A12 Bionic chip.

If your setup is solid and WiFi throughput is sufficient for what you need to do, it is fine.

I’m not really understanding?

You should have stopped there.

If a WiFi setup is done well there is very little need if any for wired, but it remains an option (or choice).

I cannot remember when last I had someone in the office need to plug in a cable to their laptops.
The same for gaming or streaming if their WiFi setups are good.
However, there is still a case for wired where needed, backhaul, datacenters, where WiFi is implemented poorly or simply by choice.

You do know you can choose AND not need to convince the world it is the only right way?

I’m not arguing.

Most the world prefer Ethernet if they can . It’s just really here that I’ve heard WiFi is the better option.

I’ll Google a bit though

I’ll Google a bit though and maybe I should.

Fixed.

Most of the world use wired where needed, and wireless where it makes sense.

If you ask nicely though I will let you get in the last word as it is a thing for you, or if I get bored, whichever comes first.

I think anyone that actively chooses WiFi over Ethernet should have their MyBroadband membership revoked !
In other words, if they can do Ethernet - go for it. If they can’t, use WiFi.
