Demon Haunted World is a really good book.
If more people read it and understood how he broke down the scientific method into layman terms, I would see less tweets on the "For You" section telling me that Urine Therapy is better than the vaccine in preventing COVID and the maggots that are in the jar of urine that has been kept in long term storage are not to be worried about.
I would also see far less tweets that contrails from Jet Airlines are actually Chemtrails and the WEF's way of mind controlling everyone. I'd see less tweets about people suggesting they use colloidal silver as an eye drops for their 3 yr old kid. Less people giving bleach to their "autistic" child to wash out "worms" from their intestines.
Less people getting lead paint back, because it was banned by Science, so it means that lead paint is actually good.

The book specifically deals with breaking down the scientific method into layman terms. He even provided a sort of BS detector list, where you ask yourself or the person making the claim something like 10 questions, to go through the validity of the claim they are making. I read it decades ago, so fuzzy on the exact specific details.
Anyone who follows that list will see that the contrails left by passing airliners are not Chemtrails used by WEF to mind control everyone. It is merely condensation.

My brother in Christ, your side of the isle believes that men can get pregnant. And furthermore they believe that everyone should be forced to believe this statement.
None of the conspiracy stuff you mentioned even comes close to the level of indoctrination you need to have to believe such a statement.
And not to mention the 2+2=5 stuff.
If she does not believe in eternal damnation, is affirming an oath to it, really valid? The entire premises on which that oath is predicated on, is a lie to her, why would that lead credence to her honouring it?
My fellow brother in Christ, what they believe about gender is what they believe. I may not agree with it personally, but as long as they don't harm anyone, then they can dress how they like and call themselves how they like. But hey, any chance for you to derail the thread into another gender debate, go on.
Giving bleach to your kid because you think he is autistic, because "ScIEnCe" is wrong, is what Sagan sought to address in that book.

I can bet that likes of konfab, rietie and rambo are never ever going to read that book or watch his videos. If at all they watch/read it, they will come up with some silly arguments. konfab styles himself as atheist but he could never get over his indoctrination (at least on the threads). Now I expect genius comments from them -> like 'Is Sagan your god' or 'Are you following Saganism as religion' etc..

I believe a women is someone who was born with XX chromosomes. It gets complicated with intersex, and that is far beyond my expertise.
However, what I believe is identity is a social construct and that people who for want to change their identity and dress how they want to and change their names and believe what they want to about their identity should be free to do so. Again, as long as they don't harm anyone. Which is why I am against transgender people playing in women sports for example, or any medical interventions for people under 18.
So in that I do agree with you that is where scientific scepticism should apply more rigorously with regards to medical interventions on children etc.

You are assuming either ignorance or stupidity in people that believe things you do not..... never bothering to actually ask why some people are more prone to believing certain things while others are prone to not believing them..... instead of seeking insight into psychology you force mechanistic solutions.
Regarding Chemtrails I dunno why you bring up mind control because the chief purported purpose is Geoengineering with it's chief purported problem being decimation of immune systems as well as increased infertility due to all the aluminum particles getting into the food supply nvm the breathing air. Personally I don't know if there is even enough aluminum on the planet to do what they purportedly want to do but keeping an open mind.
Lead in paint not being bad had been "proven by science" until it being bad was "proven by science".... it's an example of "the current scientific thing" not being necessarily true.... not that you should "trust the science" just because it's "the science".
The questionable "miracle medical treatments" are usually believed because of the actions of government and big business having created an environment of massive distrust in them leading people to reach for straws to replace orthodox medical wisdom. No one is asking "what did we do wrong" when there is a growing percentage of the population that want's nothing more to do with regular medicine if they can help it.... no instead they are blaming the population itself.
Taking C19 specifically.... it's not ignorance or stupidity that has lead people to even start questioning whether viruses exist in the first place. The cause for that is mass panic at the threat suddenly posed by government and big business (particularly the media) coercive abuse of their power. The more panicked people on the other side pushed back on this reaction as "dangerous" or most condescendingly as "stupid".... the more the the "dissenters" entrenched in their chosen new found beliefs. Personally I am on the fence here given the revelations of how supposed virus isolation functions.
I remember at the start all the smug "I wonder how long these anti-vaxers are going to keep to their stupid beliefs" went to "What do you mean you won't take the vaccine" to "You are a danger to society at large and should be put into forced quarentine until you take it". And then when it came out that lots of people lied and it does not stop any kind of transmission everyone suddenly just wanted everyone else to forget how they over reacted. And all of these transitions happened extremely fast.
It's not a matter of not knowing the scientific method.... it's a matter of knowing it as well as knowing how corrupt people in power become and not trusting them to actually honestly keep to the scientific method.
