Return of the Prodigus: Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro (Viking's Review)

Nova has new owners and they haven't done any major updates and they haven't done updates since last year and there are issue and crashes, so I can't use it anymore. But it used to be pay once and own for life, original dev anyways

Yeah, Branch, they also acquired Sesame, which I actively use. Hyperion is also crashing. I guess those who are behind Android don't want it to be a sandbox anymore.

They all inspired by Apple. So awesome to have sheep instead of users.

Google actually went some way earlier this year to make third-party launchers more compatible with Pixel devices.

I used to like Samsung, but then they started to lock down their devices. I don't like Huawei because it is US contraband; hence, it does not have native Google Services, though the MicroG workaround is good. From all the contracts available at MTN, the Honor pricing at that time wasn't bad. They aren't cheap anymore and have a restrictive maintenance cycle.

My next avenue is Xiaomi Poco or Google Pixel in cold hard cash, but a simple online purchase will also do.

It is not only an Apple thing. There is a move to contain users within ecosystems. I am happy with Epic giving them all hell, but I question their motives, too.

Apple users just buy a phone and use it.
All these things you talking about is Greek to me.
Maybe this is why your Androids pack up after a year or two. All these crap you have to download to make it better/useable.

I had an iPhone 4S and loved the simplicity.

Then explored Android with Xiaomi, Samsung for many years and briefly got sucked into the customization and tinkering part of it.

While I could claim I was saving money by not buying Apple, truth is I got tired of ads, breaking updates, OS crashes, poor battery degradation, fluctuating performance, overheating, etc.

Have been back with iPhone for a few years; happy again.

It's not perfect, but if you get to the point in your life where you'd like to spend no more than 5 minutes setting up a new phone, it's pretty decent.

Agree. The closer one gets to 80 the more an iPhone makes sense. At that age you just want to swipe left and wait to die.

Xiaomi is going the same direction unfortunately since harmony os they no a longer abide by the open source licences and don't release the source code. They made it impossible for people to unlock the bootloader even with automated scripts trying constintly etc.
The pixel seems like one of the few where you can still do custom OS.

You sure do like wasting money, You do realise specs on paper doesnt translate in real life use? A BMW with 500kw and Mercedes with 500kw will not produce the same result in the real world.

I give you 4 months and you will be tired of that android you just got, Probably hand it down to your dog and You will finally get an Iphone.

But you have now wasted R20K on two half baked phones in one year alone when you couldve spent that on a real iphone that could last you years.

I scrolled to far down to see the comment name and while reading your comment I was thinking this must be Epah.

I can see your face now by just reading your words.
