More details emerge following SIU raid on tenderpreneur who really loves blue

The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has attached assets worth over R146 million belonging to Hangwani Morgan Maumela for its investigation into tender fraud at Tembisa Hospital.

This is part of a larger probe into corruption within the Gauteng Department of Health and the murder of whistleblower Babita Deokaran on 23 August 2021.
 
Say what you want about C U Next Tuesday Maumela but the n**ier was determined to build up quite the Lambo collection:

- Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae - the final and most powerful version of the Aventador, the swan song. To call it "highly desirable" would be underselling it.

- Lamborghini Huracán STO - the track focused most extreme version of the Huracán.

The only thing he was missing was the Urus Performante instead of the povo spec vanilla Urus he went for.

this, who knows what all the tax increases and Vat Hikes and Eskom price increases pay for,
probably a lot more we simply dont know about,

and when you have this sort of clout to be able to afford cars like this,

you definitely have the means to hide from scrutiny and push for tax increases knowing full well nobody will challenge you.

strangely enough people think shows of excess like this are normal and expected, even when they clearly aren't,
and nobody seems to mind , few small articles few court cases, but soon forgotten when people mention Load shedding or Bokke, or bafana bafana.

You're right. People have the attention span of goldfish and there is no comprehension of what all those zeros even mean. . 500 billion in covid relief funds gone there...another 2 billion here...a shidt-ton in-between.
Who cares - but holy schidt! How can we have Gogo running for mayor of Joburg?!??!!
 
That's what I don't get, the ANC is literally siphoning money out of the state on a vast scale but how is all of this plunder not getting SARS all interested?

That assumes SARS is in on the deal so the connected cadres get left alone?

It goes all the way to the top. The only time you see something done is if the person fell out of favour or another faction use it to take over a weakened one. It really is just a bunch of Mafia fighting over power and access to resources.
 
Tip of the iceberg this. Mostly the dumb ones get caught. There's some pretty savvy ones that have accumulated massive wealth and assets both here and abroad..... but are smart enough to remain completely under the radar.

And they don't all look like the average ANC voter either.

As long as they paid the right amount of tax, SARS is not going to be bothering them. AFAIK SARS doesn't care about the source of your income, you must just declare it and pay tax on it.
