Volvo EX30 catches fire in Johannesburg

Saying NO to the benefits of LFP batteries for ~132KM of extra range surely isn't worth it unless you do a lot of long distance driving, and if you're doing lots of long distance driving then an EV isn't the best of choices anyway.

Then again, I'm thinking like a poor, the people who have the money to buy these things probably don't give a flying f**k as long as they don't burn to death and the courtesy car looks baller and is stocked with butt-wipes and apology flowers.

"Despite the well-established science on the topic, it has become very common for members of the public and unscrupulous media platforms to falsely claim that cars seen on fire were EVs"

Ok but what were the causes of the ICE fires? I bet they don't routinely spontaneously combust. Also EVs aren't used for Uber so naturally the figures would be lower.

This is why I would only buy a Chinese EV. I don't trust the Swedes beyond ABBA and Absolut.
