Rain and storm for Cpt pt 2

Dams are low 51% afaik ... water restriction incoming

Best to read the full CoCT status report:
‘Continued water wise use encouraged due to lower than anticipated dams level, cautioning possible start of a drought cycle’

The main dams supplying the City are approximately 20% lower than last year - as shown on Page 3. While there is no immediate reason for concern, this updated drought risk status is part of the City's proactive approach to monitoring for and managing future droughts.

I take what they say as Blah Blah Blah .... think "song"

I report my a$$ off on leaks and wastage (Looking you you Langa) ... they don't give a fnck ... close the service request without ANY fixes. ... so laat die donnerse dam nou maar leeg loop !!

It's irrelevant really, since the soil is too dry for any runoff into the dams to be significant enough to increase dam levels significantly.. need consistent rain spells to saturate the soil enough for runoff to occur..
I understand that early rain won’t increase dam levels because of soil saturation. My question was more about the rainfall pattern so far this year compared to other years.
From what I remember, last year the rain wasn’t that consistent. I’m curious whether this year might be following a similar pattern.

Can't predict winter rainfall patterns based on summer rainfall..

We will get winter rainfall typically something like June to August for the most part..

Currently fishing on the berg river outside Hopefield. This is the car parked in the shade…

Humidity is 71% - feels like 90% at moment

actually didn't realize how much it varies linked to the temp - 85-90% in deep south

Humidity varies inversely with temperature, and reaches 100% when the air is saturated. This morning there was heavy fog over False Bay, which gradually dissipates as the sun heats the land. The one parameter that does not vary as much is the dew point, which has been stuck around 18C most of the day. This will only change when the wind brings drier air from a different direction (not anytime soon according to the forecast).

We had a brief shower in Kenilworth around 8am. A weak Black South Easter will mostly bring rain to the Overberg, with more widespread thundershowers over the central interior of SA.

Lekker rain and thunder in Wolseley at the moment.

Edit: And hail.

I can see those thunderstorm clouds from Kenilworth. Thanks for a ground report.

A weak cold-front will move in tonight with light rain for CT, so we really are having flip-flop weather patterns this month.
