MTN launches Pi mobile and Home Internet plans

Well Pi.co.za
No WiFi Calling and No VoLTE, sadly.
I have tested already,

MTN SIM bought at PEP used in the same phone.
MTN WiFi Calling and VoLTE works 100%

Even the free MTN prepaid esims have vowifi and volte.

MTNs mvnos does not have it.

One nice thing with Pi is you can regenerate 2 times a list of numbers to swap to when you signup to get a nice new number.

Those data prices are absolute bs, R400 for 80gb in 2026 is ridiculous.
"Mobile package prices range from R99 for 5GB to R399 for 80GB"

Started working for me today without me doing anything.

I spend R7.50 for 500mb (30 days Cell C) on a prepaid mobile sim and I often don't finish it because I have WiFi everywhere. I also pretty much never make phone calls so that's my entire phone bill per month.

Anyone have a contact number for these numpties?
You select your address from a list when you enter the first part, and you can't edit it but it tells me the postal code is invalid so it can't RICA. Nothing in the "self help" system can fix it, so I need to speak to a person. Who do you call?

I don't think there is anyone to call. You use the chat option and after 10 times the AI bot says he can't understand you an actual person gets allocated. They aren't any better.

After asking a very simple question like what APN should I use with Pi the person replied "Please can you elaborate what you mean with APN"

App keeps signing me out for some reason. Unused data carries over for a year but you forfeit it if you cancel your package. For my use case Capitec Connect or Megsapp is still cheaper.

How are Capitec connect and Megsapp bundle deals vs MTN Pi?
Edit - WTF they look terrible going by the prices on their websites

Does anyone know how you get the R1 per month for 3 months deal?

Que?

Pretty similar and you get 1gb free if you have a credit card as well.
It’s only marginally better but still ridiculously expensive for such tiny bundle sizes?
If you sign up now you can pay R1 for 3 months and then cancel before the end of the 3 months and not pay the full price, basically R3 for 3 months of 20gb service?

So it looks like the R1 deal is only for the mobile options below?
I'm assuming you can use the sim in a router?

And just to be 100% sure there's no catch, I can sign up and get 3 months of 20GB/pm for R3 and then cancel and not have any penalties or cancellation fees?

That is what their terms say yes

The process to sign up was pretty simple but now the esim is rica'd and shows as active but won't connect to the internet.
What can I try?
And when does the data expire, one calendar month from when you signed up?
