1.2TB of Standard Bank data, including credit card details, stolen and leaked online

A threat actor has revealed that 1.2TB of confidential data stolen from Standard Bank, which includes client credit card information, will now be leaked online in parts.

The bank, the largest in South Africa by assets, was breached in late February, with the hacker known as "ROOTBOY" claiming that they spent "just over three weeks" in the bank's system undetected.

What an epic stuff up. How would anybody trust these institutions ever again?

I'm glad we moved our provident fund away from Liberty last year.

But comes next week, I need to jump through hoops to get API and external integrations working with them their way.

****ing bunch of clowns that want to tell me how to do my job.

I've been saying that these banks have some of the worst security for years. Not just Standard Bank. Also Nedbank. Why? Because I know multiple people who worked at Standard Bank's IT department and know people that does work for Nedbank.

Know them. Not associated with them.

Lol they phoned me and apparenlty my card details was leaked so they will send me a new card. I guess the real question is how much data was leaked and what else was stolen ?

After their rediculous lounge access policy change its time for me to move to Investec, RMB and Discovery I guess.
