let me ask a question here, are AMT Autos the same or better than regular torque converter autos,
I mean in the small car segment Vitz/Celerio you get many AMT but not so many Torque converter small cars

is that better/worse?
AMT sucks

AMT is just a robotised manual gearbox where the operation of the clutch is handled by a electronic control unit (ECU) and mechanical linkage, instead of the normal clutch pedal & gear lever - so it works better if you lift off the throttle slightly as it changes gears, just like you would in a normal manual, to prevent any jerkiness & 'neck-breaker' whiplash during gear changes.

so why is it so hated as compared to a Normal auto then? is it cause you drive it almost like a manual?
and not put your foot on the Gas and keep it there like you normally wouldn't in a manual.

im just trying to understand it, as some tiptronic gearboxes act the same, or dont they?

Prefer Auto but manual gives quick driving response.

Cause of the fact that you still kinda need to time the changes.

Personally I love manual, but the Jaguar XF was only released with a torque converter auto, so that's what I have.

It really depends on the application, and if not manual:
Heavy traffic? Torque converter auto
Fast shifting and manual-like efficiency? Dual clutch auto

Are you guys also finding that auto is heavier on fuel compared to manual?

Auto FTW everytime and especially in urban traffic.
Manual is for play time when you have something with a decent engine...

Cars that have that schitty gearbox are barely fast enough to overtake an ice-cream cart, let alone give you whiplash...
