The Tools and other D.I.Y bargains thread

Need a Dremel guys or a good alternative to one. This seems workable but would like something wireless BUT don't want to pay R3k for one :D

Any recommendations? Else I'll just get the above for the interim. Or would this work :

Cordless Multi Tool

It seems the second link is for a oscillating multi tool, not a Dremel like grinder?

Two very different tools, so not sure what you are wanting to do with it, if you think both can do the same thing..?

Honestly want a dremel to do some smaller adjustments on some work I do from time to time. Oscillating tool came about since it's wireless :D

Cordless, it's cordless.. We don't yet have commercially available wireless power..

Oscillating tool is not going to be a replacement.. it's not a precision instrument for small adjustments..

I'm exhaused man :( been up since 1am. Guessing it's either Dremel then if I want cordless

Why do you say that, I haven't noticed that?
I know it's one tool, but last year my gbh220 rotary hammer drill was busted after an hour's use, Bosch refused the warranty repair, claiming wear and tear, even though I bought the thing an hour before I started using it..

The repair was a few hundred bucks, cheaper than buying a new one so I just paid..

It seemed to be okay after the repair, used it a few times since.. However, the last time I used it, to chisel some bricks demoing an old braai, it's busted again..

Hesitating now on buying a new one of the same model or even higher specced model for that matter..

Wtf how could they deny warranty on a tool that must have looked essentially brand new still?
What reasons did they give?
The fact that it's already broken again means there is some kind of manufacturing fault or design fault.

Thanks for the heads up. Why did you not take it to the retailer? Let them fight it.

Additionally, each province has an Office of the consumer protector. I had great results using the Western Cape office to assist me.

The reason given was normal wear and tear.. I tried to fight but they didn't budge..

I took it to the retailer.. At the time I just had too much going on to continue fighting.. My time was worth more than a few hundred bucks for the repair..

Brights has total tools sale, I noticed that few items are cheaper like grinder and reciprocating saw and some kits are more expensive.
Anyway check out and see if you can find something.

Three tools that I want from that list (not need)

The circular saw
Reciprocating saw
Electric ratchet

All under R800.

Oddly enough I got first two and was holding ratchet in my hand last Saturday (Boston shop) debating if I should get it or not.

It’s too heavy and unwieldy, they only work when they use the smaller 12v battery systems.
I also wanted one and got a chance to use it but it’s nothing like the Milwaukee cordless ratchet that everyone on YouTube uses.
