Rain and storm for Cpt pt 2

Event people are nipping. Speakers were meant to leave CT today for JHB to speak at a conference. Flights are grounded and a few were sitting in planes stuck on the runway. They are just hoping the flights resume in time for the event tomorrow.
I do wonder if its that critical, they charter a coach for them and drive the 18 hours to JHB, is that even a option?

but in Hong Kong they take off in Typhoons all the time, are us westerners not skilled enough? or are the rules different here?

Jeez, you really can be obtuse. I spelled it out as clearly as possible. CT only has one runway, aligned north/south. If there is a 50kt wind gust coming from the west, then no aircraft, airline, pilot, or anyone in their right mind would try to fly under those conditions.

Some light reading:

I do agree, all Im saying in parts of the world where weather events like this are more common,

they still fly in weather like this, within aircraft limits

It's more like desperation. They need the money, badly.
I Agree!!!, these whites just think everything is accessible because they can just "Swipe". many others out there dependent on bringing in a income. all i see in these posts are the rich areas thinking life is tough!

From your link:

Wind speed, wind direction and visibility: When a typhoon is hoisted causing a high speed wind, whether it be a signal number 3, 8, 9 or 10, a flight can still take off or land if the wind direction is suitable for the operation of take-offs and landings.

Wonders what is this phenomena outside my window? is it unusual?, must be a once off. Maybe a cyclone

Edit: Typed on my battery powered laptop, due to a power line blown over.

Are you trying to be funny, or really bringing race into this?

Plenty of folks from all races use 60/60.

its certainly earned its place now, although even the people born here think this weather isn't the usual insanity
its a completly unique and different level of insanity,

If you are a paid speaker and your plane is grounded due to weather and you can't make it would you lose the speaker fee or can you use some kind of force majeure clause to still get paid?

hence my point if CPT had more runways maybe it was possible to fly in this weather
I mean a typhoon is 10 times worse than this.
I thought your point was that if people can take off in typhoon countries, they can do it here.
Now you're saying your point is that if we had more runways we could do it.

Go back to bed.
