Easy way to avoid standing in queues at Home Affairs

South Africans can use a number of queuing services to avoid standing in lines at Home Affairs offices. However, these companies charge a big premium for saving customers time and effort.

Several private companies have seen an opportunity in the inefficiencies at Home Affairs offices, which often lead to people standing in queues for hours to obtain essential documents.

They were one of the reasons back in the day it was hard to find slots to book drivers license. They would just book every slot.
People cottoned on and stopped using them as much as its not hard to do a drivers license renewal and the queue isn't even that long.

A walking stick, old-age shuffle and ID book showing my age worked 100% for me. For a new Smart ID I was in and out of Home Affairs Wynberg in 45 mins

My gait improved the moment I stepped out the door
Another place this works (generally) is for drivers license renewals in Gauteng. People over 60 can walk in without making an online booking. When I tried this at the Eco Park centre they had not heard about it at the door, but let me in after I told them it was on the eNaTIS website.

Given the length of time you can stand in a line waiting, people will pay for this. my last visit was from 06:00 in the morning until 14:30 in the afternoon. Efficiency and speed are colonial concepts.

You also have long lines for public hospitals and such, which you kind of cannot pay to get around, unless you pay for a private hospital 5000 times as much.

I wouldn't be surprised if these companies have book door access to home affairs for a small "fee"
