Are there any payment gateway solutions similar to Stripe in South Africa?
I want to add a checkout page or embed it on a site, but I'm unsure what solutions we have here.

Something that also works for individuals, so it does not have to be for a company only?

Paystack is actually backed by Stripe. I can highly recommend them, Peach Payments, Yoco or iKhokha.

Regarding Paystack, what do US customers see during checkout or on their invoice? Do they actually see the dollar amount?

I've used these in production over the past few years.

The best all rounder : Yoco (Easy dev integration, nice UI, it just works)

The most reputable: Payfast (Best for high transaction volume, tedious custom integration but big clients trust this)

The most flexible: Paystack (Easy integration and a lot of features to customise, not based in SA, Nigeria, but have been using them on a site for years with no issues)

It's worth mentioning they all have WordPress plugins which makes integration super easy if you're going that route. Have a look at their websites for more information like pricing etc.
