What game are you playing now? (Part 2)

Seriously?

I'm talking about the industry my man. That's why I quoted industry figures. If I wanted to say just that I would have said just that.

In my personal capacity though - you are asking a predominantly RPG gamer who predominantly plays RPG games, a predominantly single player genre, if he cares about singly player games.

I often post about RPG's. My 50 last played games are overwhelmingly RPG's and I'm currently in slow-mo mode catching up with bad RPG SAO games waiting for good RPG game Sky SC Remake and good RPG Phantom Blade Zero and hopefully good RPG game Echoes of Aincrad.

My top games I ever played are all RPG's.

So yes, I ****ing love RPG's.

Sony, Microsoft and Steam never calls to hear my opinion on their business decisions though.

His limit reached with his ai chat session and that's it for his missing content reply... hahah

My take on why Sony's PC venture failed:

1. I believe there are quite a few PC gamers who has a PS as well to get the best of both worlds.

2. Sony never had any drm on their games, so cracked on day 1 of PC launch. Go take a look at the top games over the last year on a crack website. Last of Us, Spiderman 2, God of War, Days Gone, Uncharted....

So I can believe sales were not great...

That makes it even worse. The industry cares nothing about single player games, that's why they spend billions pumping them out...

Sbeing
But Saros is AA no? Its not a big studio. Only 120 people.

Sony has only Wolverine coming up and its not out yet.

So in 6 months Sony shipped 20 hours worth of content and PC bro's are supposed to be sad now?
Seeing as you are still going on about it, it seems you very much care.

Finished the OG Deus Ex and Invisible war recently.

DE is better than IW but both are pretty good.

Kinda sucks playing old games on new HW, DE was super dark, could hardly see anything but somehow supported 1080p.

IW had normal lighting and could see but no 1080p support. Only 1280x1024, every time i quit the game the desktop would be on that res. IW felt like a console game, UI completely different, inventory system and augments weren't the same as DE.

DE:MD and HR are fantastic games though, if you haven't played them I highly suggest you do.

At the current rate, it seems that both Xbox, sorry XBOX, and PlayStation want to go back to console exclusives. XBOX is yet to make an announcement, but I don't think PC will be all too inclusive. PC will likely be relegated by MS Gaming to a timed launch. From what I have read, we don't have Sony's direct position on console exclusives as they could also still do a timed launch.

I am convinced that both XBOX and PlayStation are doing this by design in cooperation. It is in their marketing language. They want ecosystems to compete. There is still a hardware drought, and consoles have a lot to gain under these conditions. Nobody is the nice guy here; they are all Epic. Valve and Nintendo will carry on as per the usual though I do expect some games to not release within their ecosystems.

I am curious how XBOX is going to workaround the PC, because XBOX Console, Xbox PC.

What? Buddy, a single game I listed above racks up as much as $2B from cash shops per month and Sony, Microsoft and Steam all take their 30% cuts because its sold on their marketplaces.

That's $600 000 000 in their pocket without spending a dime.

Sony's top 3 game in its entire existence, The Last of Us 2, earned them $450 000 000.

It cost them $220 000 000 to make.

It took 7 years of no returns.

Now this is probably a hard pill to swallow, I know, but the cake is a lie.

The only reason exclusive single player games exists is to peddle generational hardware and console ponies eat it up thinking they are sustaining an industry.

Err, that's not even remotely correct.

We actually have some figures thanks to Insomniac's leak, though again you need to look at 'as at', since most of these are old:

What? <snip>
You said nobody (meaning the industry...) cares about single player games. And yet they keep spending billions making them year after year, on marketing, hyping them up etc etc.

Strange way of not caring.

The only reason exclusive single player games exists
...is because nobody cares :)

I genuinely don't know what point it is you're trying to make.

What's not correct?

10 000 000 x $60 = 600 000 000 - costs

Or did 500 Naughty Dog employees work for free for 7 years.

Help me out here.

TLOU2 is not a "top 3 game in its entire existence", no idea where you got that from. GoW, HZD, Spider Man etc. are all bigger, hell TLOU sold more and probably GT7 too.

Also, it was 10mill copies as at 2022, that was 4 years ago, games don't just stop selling...

Regardless, like wbot I don't see your point, single player exlcusives shouldn't exist because live service games make more money? Imagine telling a company that sells 20m+ copies on their IPs on a single platform that, lmao

Because they don't.

Sony has 10 GaaS games in the pipeline and in contrast gave you only 20 out of 4300 hours worth of prime game time so far this year.

Sony needs to sell a PS6 one of these days and having what little SP content they do have (2 per year) run better and look better on PC hardware means you are about to spend top dollar for a very expensive tin can.

You are aware all GaaS games remains on PC yeah?

You are delusional. The hardware is normally sold at a loss or about breakeven; the games are where the profit is made.

Talk about a bitter PC gamer :)

Well, I'm trying to play Diablo 4, but keep on getting disconnected from the servers. Wonder if its all these DDOS attacks going on.

You seriously don't get it. If they didn't care then single player games wouldn't exist at all. They wouldn't waste time or hundreds of millions of dollars making a game.

And yet, they do. Devs put so much time, effort and money into single player games that sp games tend to dominate major awards, they're usually the highest rated games year after year. According to you that means the industry doesn't care.

Oh? I thought it was because I remembered it plastered all over the place at the time.

Nonetheless the scale tips in your favor I hand you that one. I should have looked up current not historic figures.

But no, I genuinly have no idea where either of you are getting to that conclusion. I'm saying they are not the top earners. And I am saying its not even close. I'm saying its not even a fair comparison.

That's what I'm saying.

/Hey you two here, I give you two options:

a) I'll pay you 30% of billions every month no risk no work no questions asked.
b) I'll give you 600m every 7 years full time job overtime required will check on you

You two = ****it gimme b.

Anyway, sorry I derailed this thread with my initial post.

Finished the main story of Arkham Asylum. Still have to find about half of all secrets/riddles etc so should take me another week or so to finish before going to Arkham City :)
