Some small quiet changes made recently, possible clues to their general behaviour changes.

Channel 100 (current & forthcoming highlights) - removed from some old decoders, no longer on streaming services, no longer on the free streaming option, is still on my Explora though.

OTT channel 243 DStv Play (older / variety sports) - no longer on (all/most?) streaming packages, but strangely is now available on the free streaming option. (Other OTT chs. unaffected.)

AI believes it's a fact that Multichoice have decided NEVER AGAIN to allow DStv's DRM-protected streaming on open source platforms, so good bye Linux usage and things like Kodi access.

However... there is always a way (sometimes :p ). For instance, I access it on my Linux PC by having an unregistered copy of Windoze in a virtual box in Ubuntu.
(Better than a dual boot hassle)

At least one new sports channel is coming, although unsure if for SA as well. Main content appears to be.... football... one of Canal+ 's sponsor partners is involved.

Are DSTV now perhaps using AI to write generic filler for the TV guide? I know it's never been the most accurate, but to give a recent example, here is what the guide said about today's stage of the Giro d'Italia Women cycling race. Bear in mind that today was a mountain time trial, so the type of individual stage where team tactics play no role at all, and as it was mostly straight up a climb it was a stage with very little variation in terms of terrain.

DSTV Guide:
Stage 4: Belluno - Nevegal. We bring you mixed terrain combining flats, climbs, and technical sections, demanding versatility and positioning, encouraging aggressive tactics from teams seeking stage success.

This is the write-up on the Giro site, which could have easily been copied or briefly summarised by someone who cared enough to provide accurate info:
An individual time trial, entirely uphill overall and divided into three sections. The opening part runs downhill through the historic centre of Belluno, technical in nature, on narrow roads with sections of cobbled surface, as far as Ponte della Vittoria (Piave River), where the climb begins. The ascent continues at a relatively moderate gradient up to the intermediate time check in Caleipo. From there, the final section features 4.5 km of hairpins, consistently above 10%, with prolonged ramps reaching 14%. Near the finish, the gradient eases slightly.

And no, DSTV haven't just got the same description covering every day, this is what they say for tomorrow:
Stage 5: Longarone - Santo Stefano di Cadore. On this stage teams set tempo, attacks from contenders, and potential decisive time gaps before final stages approach.

Perhaps this isn't a highly rated sports event, but it's just an example of a broader problem where there is plenty of relevant info out there, but seemingly nobody there cares enough even to copy it into their guides. Like how they routinely get the wrong info where there is more than one movie with the same name, because apparently they still haven't included release year in whatever lookups they're doing. I got used to those problems tbh, but this bland meaningless filler I pasted above seems to have got worse.

Yeah no, that ain't AI

I see subtitles on the Stream catch up Mnet Movies, at last. Now for the live channels.

Anybody used their streaming service elsewhere in Africa recently?

Used to be said / claimed that any of their streaming sources could be accessed throughout Africa, but it seems not - recently when tried it gets stuck, at least for some.

Edit:
An online chat agent confirmed (if believable) ;
Please note that it is not possible to have it work in another country as it is cross boarder piracy, they also have DStv and do not allow that.~Galeboe

Two channels being removed end of month - in SA both have been exclusive to the cheapest (now hidden) EasyView package only;

139 Cine Magic - mix of older Hollywood & mostly Black interest movies.
143 Magic Showcase - Black interest content.

Probably part of that scenario where they force you to drop the package eventually.

Went through that with some bouquet that had KykNet, and they just took channels away the whole time and one couldn't cancel or upgrade or you won't be able to ever subscribe again to it. Can't remember the name now, was outside of the main bouquets, through Vodacom?

Funny thing, I'll miss 139 a bit - had some interesting odd movies on there through the years.
Yeah know that feeling, like bargain hunting, like me hooking up the Openview decoder recently even though having access to full DStv and Stremio.

Saw a post of you the other day regarding M-Net terrestrial - it is actually still running? And if the decoder goes pop, end of story.

With CSN channel, only those 2.

Yeah, that was Select 1 & 2, I think the KykNet one was #2.

Yeah, still going for those who kept paying for it uninterrupted. And includes its own "CSN" sports channel.

No, the decoder now used is a modern one so no problem there.

I've got access to those due to past tech involvement, nice thing is there's little or no ads on it.
