That's exactly why they feel that way. Exclusives worked well for Sony. So fight fire with fire.
A console without exclusives will simply not survive and go the way of the Dodo...

Both companies are currently not selling the numbers they want to.... and this just before the next generation is to be released in a year or so.. Should have been the opposite - high console sales - due to console price reductions and good games - but we have the opposite because prices are going up and up - and big AAA games are in short supply.
So at least they are now planning on the next generation and launching them with as much fanfare and drawcards as possible... those machines will also cost a fortune. So they need every trick up their sleeves. Exclusives being just one of them.

Hang on. Remember that Xbox always had it's own exclusives. They just changed tack, including selling these exclusives on PSN. They sold their fire, in other words.

It was during this period that suddenly people were moaning about Sony's exclusives and how "selfish" they were. Now the tune is changing. That's the point I'm making. It's not about about suddenly wanting to fight "fire with fire".

And Sony's sales are pretty good, and not anywhere near going the way of the dodo. Just just the memory crunch that is affecting everyone.

That and their exclusives were for the most part this generation underwhelming to just plain crap.

I think they should also shift back to Xbox and PC only releases for their upcoming games such as Elder Scrolls 6 and the next Gears.

They should also go back to the drawing board with Halo and get back to what got them here in the first place.

Yes, I think the rivalry of the exclusives needs to be ignited again. It just adds flavour to gaming. Stuff the snowflakes :)

We can't have 20inch biceps Delta soldier competing against a little carpet muncher anymore.

Lets all just get along. Tis the age of cross play and all that kumbaya stuff

Really enjoying FH6! I couldn't really get into 5 (maybe because of the Mexico setting).

The game runs beautifully and looks absolutely stunning!!!!
 
Watched the show.. yeah glad they are returning to exclusives, will definitely help the brand but yoh nothing really got me excited in that show..

Fable at this point looks like they don't know if it should be woke or try and course correct.

Halo.. yeah remakes etc

Gears looks decent.

Senua? Meh.

Doom DLC... ok

Clockwork is the only game that peaked my interest.

I feel like Sony still has the upper hand over the next 2 years and their state of play was definitely better.

What returning exclusives ?

These are all coming for PC/gaystation and Xbox, some even on Switch 2.

Xbox shares nowadays, they hardly have “‘exclusive “ games like gaystation.

Oh wow they got Halo after years. Gears is only coming to pc and xbox. Sony recently has just been releasing cinematic 3rd party single player games.

Hopefully not to system heavy - want to play that on the ROG.
 
Xbox fumbled so hard during this gen, esp when I released Xbox branded exclusive games on PlayStation. It basically removed the main reason to buy an Xbox. They could have kept PC releases as is and called it a day, but no they had to release historically exclusive games on PS5.
