Australia's home electricity prices vs South Africa

Let's just forget the fact that literally almost everything people are dependent on to live a modern life comes from China.

Same model and same range. Just a different name. We get shafted with everything in SA. Only housing is really cheaper in SA compared to other places.

yes, and this gets worse the poorer the country is... a double whammy of lower pay and higher priced goods. If it's seen as only wealthy people able to buy it (which in SA is anyone with a job) then taxes are higher , plus the logistics/supply is just not mass market so it's more expensive for local guys to bring the product in.

It would be so helpful to us if the rest of SADC was at least as wealthy as SA and getting wealthier, not submerging economies.

When the countries around SA collapsed, they ran to SA. Now, when SA collapses, where do you run? It sucks. Not everyone wants to run to a different continent. Cultures, etc become very different.

Going to another country across the border is better and keeps you close to family members. If SA reaches Zim level, it will be a sh!tshow.

That's the thing. They keep talking about African unity but there's no unity. It's all really just about everyone coming here and nobody from here wants to go to the rest of Africa.

Because unfortunately the rest of Africa isn't Wakanda like the movies. and SA is still far more developed that the rest.

I would consider Zambia if considering moving to a SADC country.

Not the current Zambia, that was Zambia in the 90s.

I went there last year and they seem to be doing fine enough. Lots of growth and they took in most of the old Rhodie farmers and are taking quite a few of ours.

More investor friendly than here im told
