Another moderate intensity cutoff-low along the Garden Route and Eastern Cape coast over the next few days, bringing some heavy rain, cold temperatures, and snow over the high mountains:

SAWS 24 hr rainfall highs for 4/6/2026:
121mm - GEORGE WITFONTEIN (WC) - approx 100mm in most of the southern mountain range
115mm - PORT ALFRED - AIRPORT (EC) - 102 EL too

Some weather stations seem to be offline - Stormsriver etc

Cumulative rainfall figures for the 48 hours to 8am on Thurs 4th are quite substantial:
GEORGE WITFONTEIN 67+121=188mm, MOSSELBAY-ROBINSON PASS ARS 57+95=152mm, GEORGE JONKERSHOEK ARS 45+97=142mm, STORMRIVER FOREST FERN FARM ARS 94+missing data, etc.

We had several hours of moderate rain in Kenilworth, and low clouds moved in over the mountain. Later in the afternoon we had an impressive rainbow, and spectacular sunset (unusual to see after rain).

Except for the storms though... but yes, there does seem to be less regular rain and so its not as cold.
