Personal information of cannabis users in South Africa exposed on the Internet

Who would have thought a pot head club would have dodgy cybersecurity and data protection. Luckily the stoners probably won’t care - they don’t see, to care about much

How many dagga alone stabbings, shootings, and road deaths are there yearly?

Nobody said it was illegal. But your information is now publicly accessible and you buy weed.

Good luck with that.
Who buys Weed? It is literally it's name..... Its a weed. you drop the seed and it grows...

I see no reason why such details should even be kept.

A lot of places you have to. The loophole that lets people buy at the moment requires it.
And that is the issue in our society, over-regulation. What started off as trying to make society safer has resulted in us becoming unsafe. The real solution is that as many things as possible should be unregulated and anonymous.

Blaauwberg Rd between Koeberg and the beach alone has 6 cannabis stores.
Let alone the many within a 2km radius of that.

Hell the fancier one in the mall next to hi fi corp is even selling 'oxygen', candy, cakes, hemp clothing etc all the way to actual hash.
And the stores look great. This is not the bubbie shop we used to.

I think there is a lot more weed aficionados in Cape Town than people admit to.. And they are obviously well adjusted capable folk since the offering in these stores is not your R5 sloop or R60.00 banky. (yeah it was once)

I saw a clip of Mamdani (NY mayor) being asked about his info at cannabis store. Oke plainly said I buy MJ.

So what are they gonna do with the info. Who cares if you toke in your downtime. . It's not 1985.

As a consumer of such products - I'm happy for some regulation though.

In general the regulation does always come at a bureaucratic cost, which then often causes people to work around those regulations.

It's not illegal to smoke weed. Neither can HR do anything if you smoke it in your free time. The only time it can be an issue is if they have zero tolerance policies such as at mines etc. where they routinely test for substances during medicals.
Correct, a Zero-tolerance policy means they deal with weed the same way they deal with alcohol, if you have it in your system you are going to find yourself unemployed very quickly.

Limited to a handful of industries and yes, you still need to test positive.

I wonder about the legalities of giving incorrect information in these types of scenarios. You go to a dispensary, they ask you for your ID and phone number and you fill in numbers that aren't yours. On one hand it feels like it could be some sort of fraud. On the other hand, oops I wrote 2 instead of 1 in the heat of the moment, I was nervous/rushed, sorry about that?

I think its the ID numbers etc that are the problem. Who wants to be married to a Nigerian these days....
