Rain and storm for Cpt pt 2

Fog, and more fog.

The 'benefit' of a frontal system is that there is always clearer skies and warmer air ahead of the rain, so the fog dissipated completely by mid-morning. Sometimes we get berg winds ahead of the rain, but definitely not this week...

Edit: It started raining in Kenilworth at 2:30pm, a lot earlier than predicted. The mountain always creates it's own weather...

"I can (kinda) see, I don't need lights"

As dumb as many drivers are, I think that dashboard lighting plays a part.

Back in the day, if your headlights were off, your dashboard was not lit up. Only when you switched your lights on was the dashboard lit up.

Modern cars have dashboards which are always lit up, even if your lights are off. When I first got my current car, I had to get use to the difference.

The SAEON Dwarsberg mountain catchment station reported 28mm up to midnight, with about the same early this morning. That is a good amount for a single cold-front, though only a fraction of the amount we had in the big storm in May (400mm+). The rain seems to have mostly stopped this morning, but lingering showers are possible. Temperatures are quite cold, though the wind has mostly subsided, and snow seems limited to the very highest peaks.

The next rain event on Sun 14th looks confusing, not a normal cold-front, nor a cutoff-low, but a mixture of unsettled weather.

I think you are on point with that.

There are always people who would still drive without light, but
I think a major percentage should be less if they received that extra input.

My money is on auto lights. Many of the sensors are not good at detecting fog and therefore don't switch the lights on. You still have to do it manually.
