The "The Grand Tour" Thread

Let's be honest, Throttle house is a boring channel that like most auto channels on YouTube tried to be Top Gear.....there won't be any difference with this Line up.....and also an admitted bourgeois and Dutchman and a rooineck?.....and one is Canadian? Nee jong, they should at least have a Van Der Merwe and Tshabalala there 😁
 
reading andy wilmans book, how that man can put up with those 3 drunkards
and make an entertainment show that is watched by anybody, is a miracle in and of itself.

I dont think anybody will be able to catch lightning in a bottle twice, even the BBC tried and failed twice.

Yeah. I think Top Gear and The Grand Tour are those rare occasions when the stars are actually bigger than the show. Even in TG's post JC-JM-RH heyday, when McGuiness, Flintoff and Harris were doing their thing, it just wasn't the same. It wasn't bad, but you always felt something was missing.

I wish these three the best of luck with TGT, but I'm not going to be rushing home to download and watch it.

same, on reading Andy Wilmas book, I finally understand why the 1st seasons were cr@p, and it really started picking up speed, when those 3 just threw stuff on a whiteboard and saw what stuck,

remember the Nun's driving monster trucks??, apparently they thought of even crazier ideas, one of them was car a Bear drive a car,
and if it couldn't fit, literally a Monkey, one of the production assistants actually phoned up a zookeeper asking that question.

I mean for every idea they had that failed, they had another that worked brilliantly, and it simply built momentum from there.

even when they left the BBC, they simply got a bigger budget, threw even crazier stuff at the audience and saw what stuck,
and adapted and came up with cazier and zany ideas,

I mean they thought this was an amphibious car, like how drunk do you need to be to even think this way.

So when is this new trio's first episode? Worth at least a watch of the first 3 eps. given that JC seems to be behind them.

The Grand Tour, Amazon Prime's motoring show, will return without its long-time hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May – but Clarkson has given his approval to the new line-up in an exclusive interview with Autocar’s My Week in Cars podcast.

Thomas Holland and James Engelsman, from the Throttle House YouTube channel, will be joined by Instagram influencer Francis Bourgeois as the new presenters of Amazon's most-watched unscripted UK original series worldwide.

The trio will lead a six-part run that takes them from crossing the Angolan desert in track day specials to exploring Malaysia’s vibrant car culture, before heading to California to test America’s latest high-performance machines.

Clarkson holds very fond memories of the show, but is also confident about his successors. He told Autocar: “We had an enormous amount of fun doing it (the Grand Tour), but it's quite physical. It’s much harder to do than you might imagine. And the world is a much smaller place now.

“Think of the trips we've done over the recent past. Ukraine - can't go there any more. Russia - can't go there any more. We landed in Iran, drove up into Turkey, down through Syria and into Jordan and Israel. Can't do any of that. The whole of north Africa, with the exception of Morocco, is gone. We were limited to southern Africa. We've done Namibia; we've done Mozambique; we've done Botswana; we've now done Zimbabwe.

I just started watching this what is your favourite episode? I saw on reddit someone saying The Mongolia Special is their favourite.
