What book are you reading at the moment ?

Careless People: A Story of Where I Used to Work by Sarah Wynn-Williams

Finished the Dark Tower series then watched the movie.

The Rotten Tomatoes score is absolutely not justified. I think that most people either didn’t read all seven books or didn’t understand the ending.

The movie was awesome. I don’t see how anyone could expect a 90 minute word for word adaptation.

Reading the Talisman book 1 now, since Steven King announced book 3 coming out in October.

I’ve been reading this. Almost done with it and it’s probably my second favorite book. The Pillars of the Earth being my favorite novel thus far. (London a third)

I had a Ken Follet binge a month or two back, and while I agree that The Pillars of the Earth is great, the rest seem a bit formulaic (besides book 3 of the century series, whatever it’s called).

Steven King takes the cake for absolute WTF.

Give The Player of Games by Ian M Banks a chance if you’re remotely into Sci-Fi.

I'll add my voice to Player of Games.

Read that books so many times my copy is falling apart.

Yeah I’ve not read any other books from Follet and tbh I don’t think I will.

This current book is the first book by King that I’ve read and it’s just brilliant. These last few chapters are keeping me thinking about the whole book all day.

I’m very much into sci-fi. I’ve read:

- The Martian
- project Hail Mary (I wish I could read this again for the first time!)
- Bibiverse books

Will definitely add The Player of Games to my list. I might pick it up next. Thanks!

Finished 11.22.63. Great book!

Needed a short fun book next, so picked this up.

Wrath of a Mad God, Raymond E Feist - 8/10

Into the newer era Feist stuff now that I never read. Decent book, enjoyed it right through. 5 more to go and I am done with Feist for a while. Up next the Demon war saga.

Aaah James Islington is next on my list.

Is this the best place to start then?
I just found this author, I started on "The Licannius Trilogy" currently on book 2 and I'm loving it. Very similar in style to Patrick Rothfuss' Kingkiller chronicles but actually came to a conclusion.

After the stall-out on kingkiller chronicles I now make sure any book I read is part of a complete set.

I suspect I had him recommended as a “similar to Joe Abercrombie” who is one my favourite authors.

But yes after the ups and downs with Stephen King during Dark Tower I’m very much the same. Same reason I never started in Game of Thrones.

Quite a surprise to me, not sure who recommend it to me originally and I kind of expected fantasy but then got sci-fi, but in about 80% done and really enjoying it.
Like the concept & it had a lot of cool parts but it dragged and felt like it didn't really get anywhere considering how damn long the book is. Him getting stuck on that planet was tedious. Had no real desire to pick up the next book.

Shout when you're done. Curious to know if you'll carry on with the series.
