fark all the elitist twats with all their tw@tty "oh there is nobody like me because i buy a farking flagship phone" cant talk show-offiness .... this thread is now open for anybody wanting to discus their "poor mans" FE phones and updates or even throw in some comments about which midranger phones from alternative brands you think are better or do something better

And no these phones do not have equal hardware or cameras - so they wont do things as fast or run benchmarks with as high results - nor will they exactly do the same pics or video BUT post processing and AI can make the results amazingly close if you know what you are doing

what the FE phones do have is more than 95% of the same software so they will do most tasks that those flagships can do all the way from most of the AI related tasks to things like Samsung Dex (including wireless dex) and the speeds per generation is pretty close and not a million miles behind to the flagships albeit behind in minor amounts BUT speed is not the only reason to buy a phone unless you are a serious hardcore phone gamer in which case go ahead and join the elitists with the flagships though most of them do not know which end goes to their ear and which end deserves to go up their rear end with those flagships and all the money they sh@t out to get those

your fan is controlled by Android ..... interesting

guy i am trying to not be an entitled elitist farker and the first thing you suggest is that i become an entitled elitist farker - maybe that could have worked if my parents named me Dave or if was a sprinter (either way they both can jog on if they don't want to sprint away) ..... maybe

you dont have to install the app . can use the fan without it

My dad dropped his A15 4G and shattered the screen.
My mom's A52 5G had burn-in and no longer got software updates.
They got the S25 FE 128Gb and 256Gb on special for R10k and R12k respectively, which together is still cheaper than even one S26+.

Decent storage. 8Gb RAM, Wifi 6E.
Camera is good and the telephoto lens is nice. Device feels snappy in its performance light profile.
Battery life is good. Cable charging is insanely quick. My dad enjoys the wireless charging in his car too.
Software updates will be there till Sep '32.

A nice all-rounder.

iPhone SE and the 16e and 17e are made for entry-level and budget-conscious. You don't need to look anywhere else.

Chip and camera are fantastic.

Small form factor only. With small battery (earlier gens, the 17e battery is great) and 60Hz too. Competition has them beat there.

You know that the earlier FE Samsung smartphones were absolute crap. I think it was the S20 and S21 FE versions. Not sure if it was a consistent software bug, but my cousin had one, he hated it, and got an iPhone. Problem solved.

Not sure about the current Fan Edition units, performance-wise (open and closing apps, responsiveness, etc)

3 years later, still have a Nothing Phone(1), (performs quite good for its age) coming from a OnePlus 6.

Not sure if I want to buy a FE one, or just a normal S25 one and be done with it. S25U is hella expensive, and I don't need all dem bells and whizzies.

I love my s20FE, I used it for 3 years, my mom used it for 2 years and now I keep it as my second phone for playing Pokemon TCG. I can't even tell the difference in speed to the s24 although there probably is.

S24 plain was utter crap, blurry pictures etc. So bad I went to Vivo and other than Vodacom being a POS company Vivo has been very cool, cured me of any allegiance to Samsung. Because Vodacom is a POS company I used the vivo x300 plain for 2 months and honestly I would take that over any FE phone but I don't know the price of it.

they are still way more expensive than the Samsung FE phones in a reality market - if not in MSRP

i bought a Samsung S24FE at the exact same time a resident at the retirement home i stay in bought an S24 Ultra - that guy knows zero about phones so i set his one up for him and i still help him with using his phone - there is very little real life difference between the Ultra and FE besides for the Cameras and S-Pen and a better screen in the Ultra - i have mostly the same software as he does and i do all the same stuff he does in fact more because i know my phone better than he knows his phone do i use a few of the AI features and Dex while he doesn't use any of those - in terms of speed and snappiness - his phone has between 10% to 15% higher benchmark results which doesn't really impact real usage of the phone

obviously newer editions of the phones have become a bit faster with a few more hardware additions BUT it really does not make all that much difference to daily usage and yes the higher speed is a real advantage especially when using things like Dex and some of the newer AI stuff but the older phones still have all that even if they don't work as snappily as the latest versions of the phones but the older ones still happily chug along and allow you to do things that the elitist consider as being only as part of their domain

another lady recently got a S25FE as part of her contract upgrade and the S24FE is on par with maybe around 3 to 4 actual hardware changes mostly around a slightly improved screen and the cameras improved compared to the older model - the better CPU somehow not giving it any speed increases at all but minor decreases according to GSMArena but since my S24FE is not a speed slouch it isnt a trainsmash that the S25FE is more or less at the same speed and snappiness levels (both have new design exynos 10 core CPUs that everyone underestimates because of how bad older exynos CPUs were BUT these new ones are far more than "just" acceptable)

I have a S25FE. Good phone, does what I need it to do but the battery I'm unhappy with. The best I can get out of the battery is 5 hours SOT.

Yes but owning an Apple product is not about spec for spec. The OS and app ecosystem is superior as is integration between devices and the Apple family you belong to and are a part of are just all-round super cool :)

Even in that situation where you are too used to the ecosystem, I see better options than an E or SE.

Just wait a year and a half for a flagship. 16 Pro Max is R15k on classifieds now which is basically what the 17E costs, and I know which one I'd pick.

Depending on how you do it, there are plenty of instances where I would take Android integration over IOS or something like TP-link/Tapo.

Really depends.

With Android you atleast have options where with Apple you buy a budget phone and then have to buy a R3000+ everything to be in the ecosystem. Kinda defeats the FE budget friendlyness.

I would bet bottom dollar that the "Fan Editions" shifts serious volumes in a massive market like India even though competition there is brutal.
