Nope - the O/S now is actually missing too many things that Android can provide - and while Aople apologists still think they have the superior O/S the situation is way more complex than that - both have their own advantages and disadvantages but in my situation I have invested too much into my portable dex infrastructure to actually concern myself with switching to Apple

I would be lying if I said that either was superior - that can neither be proved or disproved either way

That is surprising - when i put my phone to charge every night it is generally at 60% to 70% still available if I did not use it for Dex on that day - but even when I use Dex I still have the setup connected to a power bank because I need to power a portable monitor as well as a USB hub and hard drives - so it doesn't totally drain my battery - i have a 30000 mah power bank and a 20000 mah PD power bank for this purpose

I'm not sure what you use your phone for but you are correct to be concerned with battery drain like that from any phone

In efficiency yes. In useful stuff, it still lacks some basics that I took for granted on Android - alarm separate volume, different notification sounds for different apps, signal strength figures etc and the ProMotion is great for battery but the dips to 90Hz are very noticeable compared to a locked 120Hz

you really have zero idea ..... do some research - ios has lots of basics but it really lacks a lot that android offers - far more than the morons claimed that was a difference between the O/S in an ultra and a fan edition - and ios is in no way superior and in most ways inferior - it is now a well known fact in the tech world IYKYK and you don't really seem to know

But i wont stop you from your choice however personally i wont bite since

I always rather go for the FE than the upper "class"

But yes the battery life is not great especially after 18mths or so.

i checked this out and it was only true for the earlier FE versions ie the S20FE and S21FE sold extremely well in India but nowadays the S24FE and S25FE are not doing too well because the other midrange competitors like Oppo and Vivo and Xiaomi even sell like hotcakes in India because of larger batteries and quicker charging .... and none of the Indian customers are much into the AI features and things like Dex and having all the higher end features that the higher end phones have

also the previous generations of Exynos chips that are now being used in the A series have damaged the reputation of the Exynos chips and any phone with Exynos chips does not sell well in India even though the Exynos 2400 and Exynos 2500 are excellent - and unfortunately Samsung are actually hampering the performance of these chips deliberately - if you look at the performance benchmark figures of the older S24 and S24+ it basically beats the S25FE by big margins even though they use the exact same chip and even my S24FE beats the benchmarks of the S25FE (especially Antutu)

they still perform well enough to do all the modern tasks required of newish phones and they do it more than well but Samsung is deliberately dropping the performance to stop people buying these instead of the more expensive flagship models

not to mention all those elitist tw@ttys were comparing an S26 Ultra to a an S24FE - lets see the S26FE compared to the S26 Ultra when it is released even though the S25FE was disappointingly speed hampered

but the S24FE compared to an S24 Ultra holds up surprisingly well - sure it isn't equal but it was never meant to be at half price -

just ask which area CSC code it has - if you are confident flashing the CSC to the ZA code then buy with confidence otherwise Samsung Wallet will not work (Google wallet will though)

but yep - at R8k it will bust the top range A series balls by huge margins because an Exynos 1680 vs a Exynos 2400 is not a comparison at all ..... besides the FE will still give you wireless charging and reverse wireless charging and Dex and also the Full flagship AI suite with maybe one or two things left out compared to the latest Ultras
 
Gone are the days of your basic Android smartphones, 512MB RAM and quad-core CPU...
Current phones has so many cores and RAM, slaps harder than your mom with a plakkie.

These specs would have sounded impossible to a person in 2013.

All in all, while hardware is quite good nowadays, and the software has been so optimized, that the phone's basic functionality in terms of camera, email/WhatsApp, etc, works good on both device ranges.

While the CPU and GPU is different between the FE and the Ultra, it's like comparing a LandCruiser 200 to a Fiesta, they can do the basics, the LC200 is much more powerful, and can do off-road, where the Fiesta is going to struggle. Not the best comparison, but yeah.

No need to go overboard, unless you want to show off or use the device for it's intended purpose. I have no need for a S-Pen on the Ultra, because I don't have a use-case for it. The same with your higher-specced iPhones. They can produce very high quality photos, almost photographic-camera level.
 
I don't normally operate in these celestial realms, but today I got my hands on a 4 year old Samsung A32. Pity the screen has a small crack, but the technology is mind blowing compared to my 10 year old Samsung J5. A 64MP camera and 128GB onboard storage and 2400x1080 display was unimaginable a decade ago. Y'all technogeeks are really spoiled IMO...
 
S26FE has been launched - hardware wise it doesn't offer a whole load of improvements over the S25FE because the only thing that seems to have changed is the SOC - the new model uses the Exynos 2500 that was used in in the Z Flip 7 instead of the 2400 that was used in the older model - so there are some mild speed increases BUT most of the hardware remains the same

the new model comes with One UI9 from out the box however the S25 will get One UI9 pretty soon (its already on its 6th Beta in certain models) so while the S26FE is going to be fairly more expensive ie almost a $100 increase in the price (ZA pricing not announced yet) it might be worth your while to stick to the S25FE model if you are aiming for a budget phone unless you want the approximately 10% increased speeds which you will probably only notice in gaming or GPU intensive tasks for approximately a 15% to 20% higher pricepoint

the few extra bits of software included in the new model should come to the S25FE when the S25FE gets One UI9 - but sadly its around the same size but three grams heavier, has the same battery and camera's more-or-less and the same screens with nothing really of much significance besides the upgraded SOC which might handle some AI tasks better because of the improved NPU in the newer SOC - so if you intend to keep the phone for longer than the 7 proposed major O/S updates then get the newer model just for its potentially enhanced AI capability (AI is garbage to most people now ..... but it might eventually lead to something good and groundbreaking within a few O/S updates)

not in MSRP - only with discounts and grey stock - and in any country alternative imports will always mean no warranty and no Samsung Wallet - Older models will always be discounted BUT in this instance the FE will be supported with updates for longer than that base S26 will - and yes in ZA the base S26 uses the Exynos 2600 SOC which is stronger in CPU, GPU as well as NPU (the bit of the SOC responsible for AI) so it definitely better BUT while the base S26 on paper has a better screen it doesn't work out that way in real life as per people on this forum as well as reviews the actual screens on those smaller screened Samsungs are pretty garbage

in about 7 to 8 months time (which is around about how long the base S26 has been around the S26FE will be far cheaper than the S26 models anyway and you will also get Grey stock alternative imports on Takealot and then the base S26 will be around R15k and the S25FE will be closer to R10k-R11k - its all a question of timing

either way right now if i wanted an inexpensive phone i would get the S25FE which drops down to R10k on the specials at Takealot currently ..... still not any lower model iphone because no DEX

certain older models will get discounted - when the S26FE is as old as the S26 is it will also attract many discounts

the S25FE is around R11k there - next year this time the S26FE will also be
