Fedgroup - Impact Farming Investment

I took out a lot of blueberry farming. Next time i'm just gonna buy crypto, the returns are nowhere near what I was promised.
Same here. I've got 28 bushes across a few ventures albeit mine are still relatively young. At this point, whatever returns I get are being reinvested...

Has anyone had success in selling their assets? Had mine for about 5 years i think from when it started. got a couple solar, honey and blueberries and just wanting to start taking the cash as returns have been pretty meager. Think i am on 8-9% annualised return and not willing to put anymore money into it as at the time they said a marketplace to sell was coming but that looks like its been scrapped. Wondering if its worth the effort of trying to sell with fedgroup or just keep letting it run out

I bought a solar panel from a fellow myBB oke. Also bought stuff off of a friend. I don't know of anyone who has managed to sell via Fedgroup. Best to post here if you want to sell IMO.

I am always interested in buying up assets for the right price :D

interesting reread the T&C and i see they basically just facilitate the transfer but i have to find the buyer. So mybb may actually be the best as you say. Thanks for replying but think i will just let sleeping dogs lie for the mean time.

Actually probably worth my while to go back and find the marketing material/support messages about the marketplace and lay a complaint with ombuds to just be a pain to them for going back on their messaging.

I bought 4 blueberry bushes in March 2021, at R1 000. After 4 years, this is my returns so far:

Initial Investment:

  • invested R1000 (4 bushes × R250 each) in March 2021.
  • Expected annual return: 10-12%.
  • Investment term: 8 years (2021–2029).

Returns So Far (First 4 Years):

  • Have received R338.24 from the investment.
  • That’s 33.8% of initial R1000 over 4 years.

Expected vs. Actual Growth:

So after 4 years, i should have received R464.10 in returns by now, under the 10-12% compound growth model Fedgroup shows.
I only received R338.24, which is R125.86 short of expected returns.
So far, it looks like the investment is underperforming compared to the expected 10-12% return.

  • With 4 years remaining, the investment would need to accelerate its payouts to catch up.
  • If it continues at the same rate (R338.24 in 4 years = R84.56 per year), the total earnings after 8 years will be:
    R338.24+(R84.56×4) = R676.48
which is a loss of R323.52 on the R1000 investment.
  • To break even (get my R1000 back), the payout needs at least be R661.76 more in the next 4 years which will reach a 10% return of R1100 in total by 2029.
  • Hopefully as the bushes matures the payout will be more in the next 4 years, guess thats the risk you take in investment.

I have some blueberry bushes.

However, the last payment received was more than a year ago.

Anyone else who is waiting for them to make payments?

From one of their newsletters that came with the statements:

You may have noticed changes over the last few months on the App
and statements as part of our continuous drive to streamline and
enhance your experience. While 2024 has been a standout year for
blueberries, we’ve also made updates to simplify the payment
process. Due to the closely scheduled harvest periods in Q4 and Q1,
blueberry Impact Farming owners will now receive a single annual
payment rather than two separate payments. Starting at the end of
Q2 2025, you’ll receive one consolidated payment annually covering
both harvest periods, with no payments scheduled in Q4 2024 or Q1
2025.

Hi folks.

Its been a few years since the Fedgroup impact farming thing went live. What seems to be the consensus?

Absolute and utter waste of money. It never got anywhere near their returns they claimed, and they just threw excuses.

You're better off buying drugs and booze with the money :)

I have quite a few things with them. I sometimes reinvest they payouts, sometimes withdraw.

Having bought into a lot of things years ago, it is nice to be on the steady-ish payout end. But it's by no means life changing money. Most of the time I let it sit for a few months to build up and the I decide what to do about it.

This year the early blueberry investments are maturing and coming to an end. The blueberries have never been great to be honest. But on the flip side, I don't think I can really say I never got near the returns they claimed - but to say that with confidence I would have to do some proper investigating.

I don't think I would change things if I could, I don't really regret buying into it. My reasoning back then was diversifying. But ya, definitely not for everyone. I don't really buy into new investments like I used to - they are quite costly.

Its low cost and not fake as they do pay out.
When you compare to other companies like Livestockwealth.co.za which is a scam as they stopped paying investors.

Any income paid out or accrued from impact farming is fully taxable at your marginal tax rate. They should have had a more tax efficient structure. They do say (and give some guidance) on deducting certain expenses for tax purposes but I wonder if SARS will accept it?

They have in the past with me (with the solar panel stuff). I haven't been audited though, so who knows what would happen if I were.

I have deducted the full cost of any purchases made on Fedgroup Impact farming in the year of purchase. Been audited every year as well an they always accept it.
