New crisis could cost South Africa 70,000 jobs

Energy experts have warned that the South African industrial sector is facing a ticking time bomb: a severe shortage of industrial gas that could put up to 70,000 jobs at risk by 2028.

Speaking to Cape Talk, the CEO of the Energy Council of South Africa, James MacKay, described the figure of 70,000 potential job losses as a "broad-brush" view of the overall gas value chain.

Just like routine maintenance, this will become a crisis, even though the ANC government has known about it for years, they do nothing until it's too late. Nice excuse to make using gas a lot more expensive as well.

Same shyte different day. They were warned to build more dams and power plants as well but did diddley squat about it.

No need to worry, seeing as the last ferromanganese manufacturer has closed, so now there already is a saving on both electricity and gas, as they no longer will be using any.
