Anybody used a Sonoff smart switch for their geyser etc?

Can anybody vouch for these things, its a smart wifi breaker that you put in your DB board, then wire your geyser as an example to it.
Says you can control the switch from your phone using some eWeLink app or others.

I use the smartlife ,tula one's . I use a heavy duty relay with it at my house. I installed one, when you close the metal cover, there is no wifi. They leave the cover open. But they work fantastic.
 
I have a POWR320D and a CBI Astute(2 geysers). The second Astute failed and was replaced with the POWR320D but the other one seems to be solid.

This a single din? Was considering something in the ceiling but not a fan of such tbh.

That's what I've got, though the heat pump has it's own timing, so I just use mine for power monitoring now

Ok I bought 2 of those 32Amp breakers from Sonoff, GeeWizz has them at a better price than Sonoff themselves. They seem excellent so far! If you're a real man with a big hairy chest you just replace your geyser breaker with these yourself, easy peasy.
Download the eWeLink app and it picks them up automatically.
I choose Sonoff because they are a double pole breaker and also 32A (so it breaks the live and neutral) so no chance of death from the neutral line if you working or doing something else down the line, I see a lot of the other ones are single pole.

Anyway, they seem good so far!

Yep. There is the standard geyser breaker and then this as well. Any electrician can do a quick install. If you have a older board like mine, you might need to buy a adaptor which helps hold the din to the older rail.

I am not sure but I don't think they over breaker protection ?

My board is already full eish so might just have to go with a wallbox in the ceiling option tbh
 
Using a Sonoff TH20 Elite with a lugged temp sensor. Lug goes onto one of the bolts fastening the element's cover plate to the geyser's body. TH20 drives a 25 A contactor.

Temp readings aren't 100 % accurate due the losses between the water and the bolt (I'm guessing 5-10 degC out), but more than good enough for my needs.

Yep. The from the geyser body conducts heat pretty well, so you get a good indication of what the temp is. Picture to show where - just pulled from a youtube clip. If I remember next time I get into the ceiling, I'll take a picture of mine.

Is it possible to calibrate the temperature? i.e. when you know the geyser is up to temp set the temperature logged as say 60 degrees and when it is completely cold to 16 degrees and have it interpolate the temperature inbetween?

You can calibrate it, but it seems to be a constant offset rather than proper high-point / low-point calibration.
