Fifa World Cup 2026

Refusing to check VAR when Egypt were denied a goal for the same thing?
I don't know, Egypt let this one slip through their fingers. They had it and they never held onto it firmly enough. Lets see in the next game its either Columbia or Switzerland. After that its Norway/England. They clearly not the favourites at this point with all the propaganda.

Even the ITV analysis team were questioning the decisions. "opening a can of worms" is the wording they used

I don't know, the penalty in the beginning was a bit suspicious, as well as the cards on the side line. But other than that, the 2 goals were clean, the 3rd Argentina goal on the counter attack the referee ignored an Egypt foul. I don't know Im not entirely convinced they were favoured Im on the fence.
Third goal was an Argentina foul and the ref already missed one just before that. I think Egypt already reacted badly and so the ref just started ignoring them

This was great sportsmanship.
Public reviews of the referee’s performance especially the tv refs. The problem is always the perceived inconsistency. (Also in rugby)

The refs need like some kind of public score.
I think the biggest issue is the game needs to flow, if they had to stop every 30 seconds for VAR review it would be impossible. So what I think they should do is make consequences for after the game and encourage on field honesty. For the players and the ref.

Easy when The rules only apply for one team
Stop pouting so much keck.

Two of the VAR refs were from France today. Do you seriously think they’d be looking to favour Argentina? France would walk over Egypt any day.

Soccer is a contact sport. Physical contact is allowed. It’s not a game where no one is allowed to touch anyone. Sometimes a player accidentally steps on another player’s foot. it happens. A good ref reads the context, not just the contact itself.

Go back to watching rugby :D

It's like they had to back through the entire games footage so they can find some random foul they can use
But they did this when they disallowed the Egypt goal. Went back for a soft penalty that was not part of the goal.

Then for the 3rd Argentinian goal, the same thing happened, soft penalty but the reft moves on and the ref leaves it, while they are still complaining the goal is scored.

Its enough to say there is an inconsistency.

Can't say much for the other two goals that Argentina scored, was bizarre but just being accepted that Messi made some magic...

I think I will actually.

The rules actually mean something. The ref's make mistakes but at least its consistent and the injuries are at least real.

The Football WC is exciting but the drama is ridiculous. Every time I poke my nose back into this sport the more i'm convinced that its scripted.
