From 1 July 2026, anyone entering or leaving South Africa must submit an online traveller declaration before they begin their journey, and they should take completing this form seriously.

The biggest mistake travellers can make is treating the online declaration as a low-risk form to click through quickly, without paying attention to what is being asked.
