Not really, very few people, i.e. a tiny minority, are ever able to actually afford to buy a car, let alone a home. And those that do, generally land up having to sacrifice a lot just to keep up with the payments.

Not really a shock, the 1% make ends meet, everyone else is paying international prices while earning low local incomes. Last I saw the average income was in the R30 000, 00 range, or under $2000, 00 a month, the Average Salary in the US is over $5000, 00. The vast majority are trying to survive on extremely low incomes.

Check out the medians. SA is a far more skewed distribution.
