South African broadcaster launches a new free streaming service

E-tv and Openview owner, eMedia, has announced the launch of a free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) service, Openview Stream.

It said the platform was developed in partnership with RunnTV, the broadcaster's strategic over-the-top (OTT) and FAST technology partner.

It added that other African markets were planned as part of its phased expansion strategy. It didn’t explicitly mention South Africa, in which eMedia already offers its eVOD streaming service.

It seems that they are planning on rolling it out in the East African countries. You will probably find that they change the eVOD to this streaming service when it hits south Africa

Oh, this is good news actually, once the streaming service is live they can then finally hop off the analogue signal bandwagon and then (very) shortly after that the last analogue TV signal infrastructure can be switched off, bringing an end to a multi-decade deadline missing project.
