Rain and storm for Cpt pt 2

A cold-core upper-trough moving in from the west will bring unsettled conditions to much of the southern half of SA over the next two days. Rainfall over CT will be limited, but it will be very cold. Thundershowers are expected over parts of the interior and Eastern Cape coast. Some details in this video:
 
I've been in West Africa for the past 2 weeks where it's been 28 and humid. Shorts and t shirts weather while walking around the hotel room with the ac on full blast.

Coming back to Cape Town and this cold is quite the shock. Even typing this with cold hands is difficult lol.

Two weeks ago CT was warm and humid. That changed rather abruptly...
 
Last night was dead quiet, and it looks like that's going to continue for the next two nights. Tired of having to get the mozzie net out every time. Will have to be the anti-moustique for the next couple of days. This reminds me of July 2006.
 
It warmed up nicely today, I’m enjoying this mild winter with very little rain, even more so that we had that massive rain dump a while back which has gone a long way to replenishing our dams, so it’s not doom and gloom with dam levels getting critical.

Dam levels are a concern (mainly for urban residents), but erratic temperatures and rainfall are a huge issue for agriculture, farmers, food, and crop exports.

There was a weak front that passed mostly unannounced yesterday, with a ridging high pressure today bringing in cold polar air. Very different from the offshore berg wind conditions we had recently. Also the sea surface temperatures are starting to decline, after a prolonged autumn period.
