I took my partner's daughter to the shops with me yesterday, and on the way home she asked if we could go for an ice cream. There is a lekker little spot near a park where we take her that is on the way home, so we stopped. Plus it was a lekker day, so why not spend a bit of time outside and have an ice cream
I'm trying to get her out of the back seat when I hear ''Excuse me, sir''. I saw the guy loitering while I was pulling up to park (roadside parking) and I figured I was going to be approached but give me a fvcking chance.
She likes cheese rolls, so our first stop had been at the Meat World where they also make fresh rolls, so she felt like a roll before her ice cream (this kid loves plain rolls). After unbuckling her and helping her out of the car, I move to the boot to get her a roll.
''Sir'', ''Hi sir''. I'm trying to sort a 4-year old out and keep an eye on her at the same time while there is a strange man hanging around and cars are buzzing by. I shot him a look that must have shown my agitation, because he moved off. Like dude, I don't have time for this, and you are making me uncomfortable because I've got a little girl to watch.
He disappears.
She finishes her roll and so we head into the ice cream shop. Next door is an Indian takeaway and I got the urge for some samoosas, so we head there.
The lightie's ice cream starts breaking up while I'm ordering the samoosas, so I apologise for the mess and usher her to the car where I have tissues so I can clean her up.
Lo and behold, I run into the guy exiting the Indian place. He asks for work. Seriously, dude. He goes on about work while I am cleaning the kid up. ''Sorry, I don't have anything to offer''.
We head back to the Indian place, get the samoosas and return to the car. I start buckling her up...
''Excuse me, sir''
Jassis man...
Now the guy is asking me for money.
It is tough out there, I know this, but FFS can a person not just eat an ice cream and have a samoosa in peace?
