Yamal is actually statistically better than Messi at the same age - which is wild.

Whats happening in this WC is that the opposite team is focused on him the entire game so others get to score.

Scaloni hadn't done much in the WC coaching wise, at least until this game.

The intentional aggression right from the start stopped England (who is by the books the better team) from playing their game for 30+ minutes. Then England made the mistake of scoring and Tuchel went defensive. I can sort of understand why, in all the previous Arg games they struggled very hard to score once the defensive formation became that tight.

But he vastly underestimated that Arg has become used to playing from behind, and once the crosses started flying in he should have had them revert their playstyle instead of doubling down by subbing out his attacking players like Gordon.

The final is going to be interesting, Spain has a vastly superior side but they don't have nearly as much will to win...also it might just be that the tired older legs of the Arg players won't stand up to the younger side with having played so many games close to each other.

Messi stamps on Spence's foot. Seconds later Argentina score the winner. Nothing happens.

Meanwhile, similar incident, VAR pulls back the play almost a minute and 110 yards back to disallow Egypt's brilliant goal against Argentina for the exact same thing.

There were multiple other incidents last night, and it took a while for the ref to get his card out. Funniest was when Kane covered his mouth while speaking to the ref, and some Argie ran up to the ref to point out that Kane should be sent off for it. Oh, and Messi going down every 5 minutes, and then flapping his arms when he didn't get a free kick and a yellow for his opponent.

Hopefully Spain klaps FIFA/Israel/Argentina on Sunday. But, they probably won't - and we'll all know why.

Has nothing to do with squad selection. That team made it all the way to the semi final. It's the fact that the manager decided to park the bus when he went 1-0 up, but made the mistake of taking the Arsenal player off, that cost them the game.

And then brought on two defenders for the next 30 minutes and only decided to bring on two forwards when they were 2-1 down with 3 minutes left. He should've brought the forwards on the moment it went 1-1.
