The white Afrikaans sports event Minister Gayton McKenzie and Premier Panyaza Lesufi said is racist and will not be allowed

denying me cos i'm white = racist
denying me cos i'm male = sexist
denying me cos i'm a homo = homophobic
denying me cos i'm not a virgin - well i say i am


lets dance.
 
Seems there's a pretty straightforward metric to apply to the event. Are black folks allowed to participate?

If yes, not racist.

If no, racist.

That's the only picture I saw with non-white folks in it. Vendors are one thing and I'm not saying non-white folks are being excluded, but would be keen to see if there's any non-white players for example, or any other exclusion happening.

If there's no exclusion nobody should have any problem with an Afrikaans sporting event, more power to these folks, everybody's culture deserves a chance to be celebrated, but that means everyone should still be welcome to participate. Those participating mustn't cry when they're required to conduct themselves within that Afrikaans culture because that's the spirit of the event.

If non-white folks are being excluded... like no non-white players allowed etc. then frankly good riddance to a racist event. Shut it down.

I'm sure that anyone is allowed to apply.

I've read through the website and nowhere are there any mention of exclusion.

Exactly this. Unfortunately Afrikaans culture is seen as racist and far-right, so.....................

I agree that's probably the case. I can't imagine an event of this size, having gone on for this long, is actually excluding people on the basis of race.

I imagine one will find these politicians are knee-jerk reacting to anything celebrating Afrikaans culture as "racist". If so it's sad to see. Especially as Afrikaans culture isn't inherently white these days. It's shared by a lot of different race groups. There's also a lot of cross-pollination across into other cultures.

This should be celebrated, not undermined and demeaned.
