Struggling municipalities looking to make more money out of homes with solar power

Financially distressed municipalities are turning to additional charges on households with rooftop solar systems as a new source of funding, rather than addressing the root causes of their financial problems.

This is according to civil rights organisation AfriForum, which described solar registration fees and monthly charges for customers with solar as a "piggy bank" for struggling municipalities.

This is their way of discouraging people to be independent. Independence scares them, it means that there are some that they are unable to dictate to, prescribe to, tax to death or control.
It subjugates the citizenry, making them beholden to them as gracious gods from whence all good things come, for every electron of electricity.
