We thought there would be a last minute agreement with the Winter Olympics.....Actually, last minute agreements have always been part of DStv, would think it's how they sometimes get the lowest price.
From AI:
MultiChoice and SuperSport have issued zero press releases or public announcements regarding the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. [1]
However, official updates from the organizers reveal a major twist:
The Games kick off in two days on 23 July 2026.
- Official Partnership Confirmed: A Commonwealth Sport global media release named SuperSport and TVMS as the official broadcast partners for Sub-Saharan Africa. [2]
- The Silent Strategy: SuperSport's complete lack of marketing, schedules, or promotions on their own channels has been flagged by local media platforms like MyBroadband. [1]
- Late-Hour Deals: The official broadcast agreements were secured at the absolute last minute, which explains why DStv support agents have only just begun telling customers that programming guides will update "tomorrow". [1, 3]

French don't care, especially about the commonwealth.Still no update to the guide, but at least we have this;
Next guide update is (or was) usually at 1 pm. If nothing by 7 pm time to worry again. (Decoders are usually updated first.)
Only if they can claim expenses of R50 million eachWill the honourable minister of sport and his huge entourage also attend the games? Just asking on behalf of a friend I never heard of!
The wording seems to suggest it will be an SABC exclusive event in South Africa and maybe Supersport in the rest of Africa
Or maybe SS will put it on their OTT channels only, so only on streaming - wouldn't be a first.
*holds breath*
If they dropped hockey, cricket, badminton, wrestling, table tennis, diving, rugby sevens, beach volleyball, mountain biking, squash, and rhythmic gymnastics then the Games feel pointless in any case. Canal Plus should not waste their money in securing the rights.
After the debacle that was the FIFA World Cup, I think most of us are burned out on these global events anyway.
Even if I had dstv, I can't be bothered with the Commonwealth games.

Same with the Zimbabwe vs India cricket series that tarts tomorrow. Supersport didn't show the Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh and they aren't showing this one either.
Thankfully SportyTV will show it for free on youtube. If they can show it for free why is SuperSport not showing it? Aren't they Africa's biggest sport broadcaster...

Looks like a misprint, must be the Indian match. But no sign of the games that follow it.
