DA pays R5,000 to fix a pothole that costs the ANC-run Johannesburg Roads Agency only R371

ANC, leaving the remains of a plastic yellow barrier and hanging 2 strands of barrier tape from it until your Gr.1 construction project is stolen that night doesn't constitute a repair.

No bone in this fight but no ways it costs R300 per pothole to fix , taking into account materials and labour. That sounds like creative accounting.
yes, a friend of mine did his own fix on his driveway and it was over R1000 just for materials.

Even with scalability and fixing 50 on the same road you wont get to R350

It costs them R300 and then two weeks later the same hole is back.

The Johannesburg Roads Agency told Inside Metros that it repaired 97,938 potholes across the city during the 2025/26 financial year.

The cost to repair these potholes was R36 million, which equates to an average cost of R371.43 per pothole.

They said they did, so it definitely happened, lol.

If you buy a bag of cold tar and klap it with a spade, then I agree, R371 sounds about right
Pretty much what they did in my area when they "fixed" the potholes, hell even Metrofibre did exactly that when they came around 2 months ago, they had a couple of bags of asphalt, thew it in the holes they dug and used a hand tamper to compact.

I would be pissed if they paid more than R371 because we get the bare minimum when it comes to pothole fixes...

JRA patches only last about 2 weeks and less if it is raining. So the R350 makes sense.
